JINSA, a non-profit, non-partisan policy think tank focused on strengthening U.S. national security and the U.S.-Israel security relationship, seeks a Communications Associate to assist with JINSA’s social media, email communications and broader research and communications efforts. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and executing communications strategies, and is a driven self-starter interested in foreign policy, journalism, public relations, web design, and social media.
This is a full-time position with excellent benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Duties
- Develop external communications strategies across channels (video, web and social) that help drive growth of the JINSA brand.
- Compose and edit copy for external and internal communications, including social media posts, newsletters, press releases and other materials.
- Write and disseminate email communications to JINSA’s press, donor, congressional and alumni network.
Qualifications/Skills
- 2-5 years of relevant communications experience at a think tank, a public affairs agency, government, media, trade association or corporation.
- Strong writing and verbal communications skills.
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in communications, journalism, political science, or related fields.
- Strong interest in U.S. military and national security issues, including issues related to Israel and the Middle East.
- Excellent people/project management skills.
- Proficient in Office 365 software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Experience building audiences and online followings for brands.
- Ability to synthesize complex policy issues for the media.
- Ability to cope with time-sensitive situations, schedules and deadlines.
- Self-starter who is comfortable working independently or collaboratively with a team.
- Journalism and/or editing skills a plus.
- Knowledge of web design (WordPress, Constant Contact, etc) preferred.
- Graphic design skills desired but not required.
