Policy Manager
A boutique lobbying firm, specializing in the food and agriculture industry, is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Policy Manager. This individual will play a key role in supporting the firm’s advocacy and policy efforts by conducting research, drafting documents, and engaging with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing and communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
This position provides policy, communications, and administrative support for the lobbying team. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Conduct policy research and monitor legislative, regulatory, and policy issues relevant to client needs.
- Cover hearings, briefings, webinars, and meetings for lobbyists and clients. Generate concise and relevant memorandums.
- Develop a broad array of communications materials including, but not limited to: newsletters, social media content, web graphics, videos, e-mail campaigns, fact sheets, reports, and presentations.
- Manage information database systems for firm and client communications.
- Coordinate meetings and meeting materials for clients.
- Plan and oversee events including but not limited to: industry meetings, Congressional fly-ins, meet and greets, and staff events.
- Other special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Four to six years of experience.
- Strong communications skills—written, verbal, and visual. Demonstrated flexibility in writing styles, both in creative and tactical materials, including the ability to synthesize complex information into focused public policy research, newsletters, congressional fact sheets, press releases, and other advocacy materials.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail with proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Able to identify and efficiently utilize internal resources for maximum impact.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
- Team player with strong relationship building skills and a positive and professional attitude under pressure.
- Strong understanding of the inner-workings of Congress, committees, as well as government departments and agencies.
- Interest and experience in agriculture and supporting industries preferred.
- Hill or Administration experience strongly preferred.
- College degree required.
- Strong computer skills.
