Velos is seeking a Director, Strategy, Analysis, and Government Engagement (SAGE) to join our team.

The SAGE Director formulates and executes comprehensive Government Relations strategies with the goal of promoting good governance and increasing or sustaining client business, and manages whole-of-government influence campaigns that further client government relations and business development objectives. The Director also oversees a team of Associates and Senior Associates to assist in their support to the entire client portfolio, and assembles materials and products that serve to inform the government and clients on the national security space budget, Congressional defense authorizations and appropriations, emerging priorities and current events.

Directors leverage in-depth subject matter expertise of the national security landscape in Washington DC to:

  • Develop and manage execution of client support plans and strategic campaigns
  • Shape client's strategic messaging to senior government and industry leaders
  • Serve as a subject matter expert resource for clients and Associates on relevant topic areas
  • Develop and maintain relationships with relevant government and industry stakeholders
  • Lead all internal Velos programmatic functions and deliverable production processes
  • Direct and conduct analytic tasks in support of client current and new business priorities
  • Manage, assign, and guide Associate work products
  • Develop new clients and increase scope of existing clients

Required Experience

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience
  • Prior relevant Hill, Executive Branch, or defense/national security experience required
  • Understanding of the federal budget, appropriations and legislative processes required
  • Familiarity with defense and intelligence organizational structures and missions
  • Previous work in National Security Space preferred
  • Strong analytic, writing, presentation, teambuilding, and interpersonal skills

Education

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field
  • Masters Degree beneficial

Security Clearance

  • Active Top Secret clearance preferred, but not required. Candidate may be subject to US government background investigation
