POSITION AND PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Program Team Lead is an entry level position, implementing after-school programming at one of the New Futures sites. New Futures is a place-based programming, operating vibrant community learning centers at apartment complexes in South King County, providing services and community-building programs on-site to children, youth, and families. We partner with families in their communities, community partners, and with educators to ensure that children succeed in school and in life. Our integrated, culturally relevant programs build skills, foster connectedness, and promote strengths.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate after school program for elementary and high school students & provide academic and social emotional support (maximum group size 15).
- Provide academic mentoring and homework assistance for youth and participate in continuous quality improvement through the Youth Program Quality Improvement process.
- Maintain a clean, organized and welcoming program space that reflects the program participant’s community.
- Adapt lesson plans for delivering SEL activities and other enrichment programming (i.e. art, STEAM, recreation, etc.).
- Partner with external organizations and connect youth to outside programs and resources
- Maintain ongoing communication with school staff, parents, and New Futures leadership. Work closely with individual student support networks, case managers, counselors, and family advocates.
- Participate in hiring process for program assistants.
- Supervise program assistants, who support programming (i.e. provide schedule and plan activities for tutors to implement). Provide feedback and support.
- Plan and implement field trips.
- Support all site activities and events through participation and attendance
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients, families, co-workers, and community resources
- Conduct evaluations and surveys as required by funders and program or agency guidelines and collect academic/participation data on the participants
- Document work related to youth and parent activities in accordance with organizational policies
- Conduct home visits to families to discuss their children’s participation in program
- Actively evaluate program performance regularly and use collected information to make needed improvements.
- Monitor budget expenditures and maintain a positive balance.
- Manage classroom supplies and materials
- Participate in program and agency meetings, trainings towards professional growth, and organizational initiatives
- Maintain client confidentiality
