The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Director of Advocacy, Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement [R0144825]


ROLE of the POSITION


The Director of Advocacy collaborates with the UNLV Alumni Association and the UNLV Office of Government and Community Engagement to create a volunteer network of alumni advocates and execute an advocacy strategy that advances the UNLV public policy agenda and supports the university mission and goals.


This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Advocacy, Communications, and Donor Relations and will work as a member of the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement team. It will also be the staff liaison to the Advocacy Committee of the UNLV Alumni Association. This position will also spend 15% of its time working for the Office of Government and Community Engagement, reporting to the Vice President for Government and Community Affairs.


The director will plan and execute several events per year to increase engagement between students, alumni, elected officials, and other decision-makers. This position will also support events put on by the University, the Alumni Association, the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement, the Office of the President, and the Office of Government and Community Engagement. The director may attend or speak at external meetings or events representing UNLV or the Alumni Association.


The director will develop, strengthen, and maintain relationships with campus partners, alumni, elected officials, policymakers, and community leaders. This will include, but is not limited to, travel to Washington, D.C., each fall and Carson City biannually.


This position will also help develop materials, presentations, talking points, social posts, and other content to ensure that the University’s point of view is both visible and persuasive in the current social conversation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


This position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and a minimum of five years of related professional experience


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

SALARY RANGE


The salary range for the Director of Advocacy is $90,000-$100,000. Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions.
