Summary
This position is located in the Executive Office of the President, Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), Office of Public Health (OPH). ONDCP's mission is to develop and implement evidence-based public health and public safety policies that reduce drug use and its consequences.
Duties
As a Supervisory Senior Policy Advisor, GS-0301-15, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Performs a full range of first-level supervisory responsibilities. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Develops performance standards and evaluates work performance of subordinates.
Oversees the administrative and management functions of OPH, coordinating closely with the Assistant Director on all supervisory/management duties for OPH staff. Assists in reviewing and monitoring OPH's budget-related initiatives in collaboration with ONDCP's Office of Performance and Budget (OPB). Collaborates with staff and management to enhance effective communication within the Component.
Assists the Assistant Director, OPH, in overseeing the public health activities of the Federal Government's drug control agencies, including: preventing substance use disorder, including evidence-based education campaigns; substance use disorder treatment; support for long-term recovery from substance use disorders; and Drug-Free Workplace programs.
Provides guidance to ONDCP and other Federal agencies pertaining to specific initiatives identified by ONDCP leadership key to achieving the President's National Drug Control Strategy, including initiatives regarding specific drug use and its related public health and safety consequences.
