The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) is dedicated to the conservation of mule deer and black-tailed deer populations, as well as the protection and enhancement of their habitats across North America. Our mission is to safeguard wildlife habitat, advocate for sound conservation policies, and support research and educational initiatives to ensure sustainable deer populations for future generations. MDF collaborates with local, state, and national partners to advance conservation efforts and maximize our impact.


Position Summary:

The Director of Business Development will play a key role in driving revenue growth and expanding strategic partnerships for the Mule Deer Foundation. This position focuses on securing corporate sponsorships, marketing initiatives, and leveraging CRM systems to optimize engagement and revenue streams. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in business development, corporate partnerships, CRM system management, and leading teams. The Director will supervise a team of up to 5 employees and be responsible for leading, mentoring, and ensuring the team’s success in meeting goals and driving the organization’s mission forward.


Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 (dependent on qualifications)


Key Responsibilities:


  • Corporate Partnerships & Sponsorships:
  • Identify, cultivate, and secure corporate partnerships and sponsorships that align with the Mule Deer Foundation’s mission and goals.
  • Develop compelling sponsorship packages that deliver value to corporate partners while advancing MDF’s conservation efforts.
  • Manage ongoing relationships with corporate partners, ensuring long-term collaboration and mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Negotiate partnership agreements and track performance to maximize revenue from corporate partners.
  • Revenue Generation & Marketing Strategy:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to drive revenue growth through corporate partnerships, membership, and other income streams.
  • Grow and expand membership by developing targeted strategies to attract new members and retain current ones, ensuring steady growth in MDF’s membership base.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create and execute campaigns that generate income and enhance brand visibility.
  • Work with leadership to set and track annual revenue goals, adjusting tactics as necessary to meet targets.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and business development efforts.
  • CRM System Management & Utilization:
  • Oversee the implementation and optimization of CRM systems to manage and track interactions with corporate partners, donors, and members.
  • Use CRM data to develop targeted sales strategies, improve member retention, and increase corporate sponsorships.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and development teams to integrate CRM insights into engagement strategies for revenue growth.
  • Team Leadership & Supervision:
  • Supervise and lead a team of up to 5 business development professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure team success.
  • Foster a positive team culture and ensure each team member is aligned with organizational goals.
  • Develop team objectives, set performance expectations, and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Provide ongoing professional development and training opportunities for staff to ensure growth and success.
  • Networking & Outreach:
  • Represent the Mule Deer Foundation at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to identify potential corporate partners and donors.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the conservation, outdoor recreation, and hunting industries.
  • Foster new business opportunities to ensure ongoing growth and sustainability.
  • Collaboration with Leadership:
  • Work closely with senior leadership to refine and execute strategic initiatives.
  • Align business development activities with overall organizational goals and ensure team actions are coordinated with other departments.


Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field, with a strong focus on driving revenue growth through corporate partnerships, marketing, and CRM system management.
  • Proven success in securing corporate sponsorships and developing long-term partnerships.
  • Extensive experience using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) to track data, manage relationships, and drive business strategies.
  • Strong experience leading and supervising teams, with a proven ability to motivate, guide, and develop staff to meet business goals.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and lead a team to success.
  • Passion for the Mule Deer Foundation’s mission and a strong commitment to wildlife conservation.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in the hunting, outdoor recreation, or environmental conservation industries.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing strategies and how they can enhance sponsorship and membership growth.
