Job Description
The Secretary of the Senate’s Senate Historical Office is seeking a Senate Archivist. This is supervisory work responsible for planning, developing, and directing the archival program for the Senate as dictated by U.S.C. Title 44, Section 2118. Work involves administering the day-to-day operations and overall development of the archival program, including supervising, mentoring, and overseeing the work of Senate Deputy Archivists, developing policies and procedures, monitoring programs, and making recommendations to ensure the proper handling, preservation, and preparation of historical records. Work is bound by Secretary of the Senate policies and procedures; the U.S. Senate Handbook; and the Senate Ethics Manual, but requires independent judgment in setting priorities and handling assignments.
