Working closely with the Senior VP of Advancement and Partnerships, the Development Manager will oversee a diverse portfolio of corporate, foundation, and individual contributions. Responsibilities include maintaining donor management systems through prospect research, grant submission, opportunity tracking, and nurturing existing partnerships. They will spearhead the entire grant solicitation process, from initial outreach to impact reporting, ensuring a seamless and effective engagement with funding partners. About Us: Project Scientist is an education nonprofit delivering high-quality experiences in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) to girls* from marginalized and underserved communities. We offer summer and after-school programs in partnership with local schools, school districts, nonprofit organizations, and STEM Companies. To date, we have provided nearly 116,000 STEAM education experiences, impacting over 24,000 girls from communities across the United States and Mexico. Responsibilities: 


  • Success will be measured by the Development Manager’s ability to uncover prospective donors’ philanthropic interests; the quality of their prospect strategies; their ability to move donors from cultivation to solicitation, and the successful closure of gifts.
  • Proactively utilize best practices for prospect research, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all donors/funders. 
  • Manage the relationship and workflow of grant submissions ensuring that deadlines are met and in alignment with organizational priorities and fundraising goals.
  • Develop and maintain an annual fundraising opportunity calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, and other requirements to ensure the organization fully complies with all contracts with funders. 
  • Support fundraising initiatives, including STEM Girls Change the World, and partner fundraising events, digital fundraising, and individual campaigns successfully with minimal supervision. 
  • Develop and prepare meeting decks, formal fundraising proposals, info sheets, and impact reports for funders, individual donors, and grant-making foundations. 
  • Proficient use of CRM systems to manage donors, fundraising activities, gift acknowledgment, grant prospecting, tracking, and reporting promptly. 
  • Collaborates and interacts regularly with the Program Team on awarded contributions to ensure compliance with award terms and impact requirements. 
  • Work with the Program Team to schedule and track volunteer activities
  • Collaborates with marketing on stakeholder communications strategies, including email and digital campaigns, and creates progress reports for internal and external use. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
  • 3 - 5 years of professional experience in communications, institutional operations, or nonprofit Development 
  • Proficiency in Salesforce is preferred
  • Biliterate (English/Spanish) is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with budget management and forecasting
  • Willingness to “roll up their sleeves” to support the team in accomplishing goals 
  • Ability to travel and to take part in stakeholder meetings or programs, as needed
