ABOUT US
Family Conversations is a program for families with children from birth to age three who are Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing in King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties. Our program goals are to maximize technology to help children listen and speak to the best of their ability and to utilize Signing Exact English (S.E.E.) to fully accessible language during a critical developmental period to set the foundation for future literacy.
MEET THE TEAM
We are a cohesive and collaborative team made up of audiologists, teachers of the deaf, a Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing coach, a coach with a Deaf sibling, and a parent of a Deaf child. We realize each family is unique and uses different methods to reach their goals for their child. Our role is to support families as they explore the many tools that can help a child learn and grow.
JOB DETAILS
This position is year-round part-time (0.7 FTE, 28 hours a week).
LOCATION
Various locations in Pierce, King, & Snohomish Counties
SALARY
$70,000 - $85,000

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use a coaching model to support caregivers in understanding and supporting their child’s development to ensure the child has access to family language and communication.
- Write home visit summaries, annual reports, and transition reports to monitor child developmental progress.
- Collaborate with IFSP service providers to ensure progress is being made towards family goals.
- Work with IFSP team, FRC, school district, and family to support child's transition to Part B services.
- Co-design and co-lead a family engagement group of Spanish-speaking families to inform program direction.
- Support evening and weekend events as needed to help build community and connection between families.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Native Spanish fluency (speaking & writing) and cultural connections
- Knowledge of child development
- Love for young children and passion for supporting parents/caregivers to connect with their child and understand their child’s needs
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to all areas of Pierce, King, and Snohomish counties
- Experience with signing or a willingness to learn Signing Exact English
