Communications Action Officer

Key Role:

Provide our Department of Defense client with public affairs support throughout the annual Defense Authorization and Appropriations process. Work with Navy clients to develop strategic communications plans and strategies. Provide analysis to support the development and implementation of Navy and Marine Corps strategy and policy. Analyze risk-based strategies for legislative processes and planning. Analyze and track metrics for strategy implementation. Provide analysis to identify, define, and close requirements using the legislative process.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with strategic communication and planning

  • Experience with media landscape, stakeholder research, and policy analysis

  • Experience with regular direct client interactions, including supporting project delivery, delivering presentations, leading client meetings, and working independently, creatively, and analytically in a problem-solving environment

  • Experience developing Talking Points and Briefing Reports

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Experience with communication strategies development

  • Ability to track and comprehend acquisition and procurement goals as they move through the legislative cycle and plan, organize, and execute tasks with minimal direction

  • Top Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree

Additional Qualification

  • Experience working as a Press Secretary, communications, or social media lead

  • Experience with foreign nation policies and institutions

  • Experience working as a Department of Defense (DoD) or U.S. Department of State Public Affairs Officer or with media and news outlets

  • Experience with Speech Writing

  • Knowledge of AP writing style

  • Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite software, including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Top Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $54,000.00 to $123,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
