JOB OPENING: Analyst, Communications & Policy

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Washington, DC.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Analyst, Communications & Policy will have a primary focus on executing ICM’s strategy to amplify our mission, promoting the work of our members and their portfolio companies, and strengthening our network as it relates to US legislative and regulatory issues. The Analyst will conduct research and support coordination, content development and execution of projects across ICM’s policy and communications workstreams. ICM is seeking a proactive, meticulous individual who thrives in a start-up, entrepreneurial culture and is inspired by our mission. We have a small team, so this individual will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about every aspect of operations, build a valuable network and shape the role and organization, taking on increasing responsibility over time. We are a team of high performers and we like to promote from within. The Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, Communications & Policy, also based in DC.



Key Responsibilities

Policy Support:

  • Research & Tracking: Monitor legislative, regulatory, and compliance developments relevant to ICM members and the broader impact investing industry in the US and, when relevant, abroad.
  • Member Engagement: Respond to member queries on policy matters and help coordinate related outputs, including webinars, meetings and events.
  • Education and Thought Leadership: Help to develop related policy content, including public comment letters, policy briefs, statements, op-eds, and talking points, to amplify ICM’s efforts.
  • Network Coordination: Organize meetings and engage with strategic partners and peer organizations on policy-related initiatives, including ICM’s member-led Policy Working Group.

Communications Support:

  • Strategy Execution: Assist in implementing ICM’s communications strategy across all channels, including social media, email, print, and digital platforms.
  • Content Creation: Develop compelling materials, including press releases, speeches, and newsletters, to showcase ICM’s mission and the impact of its member funds in the US and abroad.
  • Media Relations: Maintain the press and media contacts database, assist in cultivating media opportunities, and coordinate responses.
  • Event Support: Identify speaking and editorial opportunities and support with scheduling and the development of content, talking points, speeches, and agendas for events, including ICM member convenings.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work with the ICM team to develop, refine and publish research and thought leadership pieces.
  • Collaborate with team members to produce ICM’s annual report and other high-profile published materials.
  • Support team operations and assist with event logistics for convenings and member engagements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of work experience in public policy or a related field (internships count). 
  • Experience in state and/or federal public policy, government relations or public affairs is a must, with preference for experience within Congress, a federal agency, a state administration or legislature, or a trade association.
  • Strong interest in the power of market-based solutions to drive job creation, investor returns, innovation and positive impact. 
  • Excellent written communication, research, and organizational skills.
  • Extraordinary interpersonal skills - you are a persuasive public speaker, convener, and natural networker. 
  • Familiarity with communications tools such as social media platforms, email software, and content management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Pro-active communicator who makes sure that all colleagues and partners are looped in early and often.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently and professionally, from either a home office environment, at the ICM office(s), or other remote locations. 
  • A strong work ethic and high expectations for yourself and others on your team; patience and a sense of humor; a positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a fun, supportive work culture. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Impact Capital Managers is based in NYC and Washington, DC. All staff are offered flexibility to temporarily work remotely from alternative locations as needed with prior approval. ICM offers comprehensive health benefits, a flexible and generous PTO policy, home tech stipend, 401k with up to 4.5% employer match, and a competitive paid family leave policy. The office is closed each year from December 24 through January 1. Some domestic and international travel may be required (<20%). All applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S The salary range for this role is: $60,000 to $75,000, commensurate with experience.
