StubHub is seeking an experienced public relations professional to lead our policy communications, based at headquarters in New York City. The head of Policy Communications will be pivotal in shaping our messaging and media relations to advance StubHub’s government relations strategy. This position will report to the Vice President of Corporate Communications with significant coordination with the Vice President of Global Government Relations. You will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive plans to communicate StubHub’s mission, research, and policy recommendations to various stakeholders, including government officials and staff, the media, and the public. Candidates should expect a fast-paced, collegial, and collaborative work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day communications policy comms media relations.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with and amplifies StubHub’s public policy objectives.
- Cultivate relationships with journalists, reporters, and media outlets to secure positive coverage of our policy initiatives and positions.
- Oversee the creation of high-quality written content, including press releases, op-eds, supportive collateral, and data visualization.
- Collaborate with our Government Relations team to effectively communicate our policy recommendations to key audiences (lawmakers, regulators, and consumers) through media and other relevant campaign tools.
- Coordinate closely with the Government Relations team to help develop and execute a comprehensive plan to identify, cultivate, and maintain partnerships with policy allies and third-party validators that support StubHub’s policy positions.
- Manage a growing team of external consultants to support the business’ policy communications goals in key markets.
- Develop and implement crisis communication plans to address potential policy issues and breaking news stories as needed.
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- Professional with 8+ years of experience in communications or public affairs, in-house at a company or trade association, on a political campaign, or in government.
- Demonstrated success in securing positive media coverage to support policy initiatives.
- Strong understanding of the U.S. political and policy landscape.
- Leadership skills to effectively work with and influence diverse audiences, both internal and external, and across political parties.
- Experience successfully navigating and collaborating cross-functionally.
- A flexible and adaptable self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in close collaboration with a remote team, and manage multiple priorities.
- Creative thinker and strategist, with the ability to craft effective storylines and narratives.
- Exceptional presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in political advocacy, policy communications, or a related field at the state and federal level is preferred.
The anticipated gross salary range for this position is $150,000-$250,000 per year. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and competencies. Base annual salary is one component of StubHub’s total compensation and competitive benefits package, which includes equity, 401(k), paid time off, paid parental leave, and comprehensive health benefits.
