Communications Coordinator
Status: Full-time, Non-exempt
Reports to: Director of Communications
The non-profit Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation seeks a full-time, non-exempt Communications Coordinator. This is a chance to join one of the most successful public-private partnerships in the country, while it undertakes a major campaign to reimagine the museum on Ellis Island and upgrades its systems through a Digital Transformation. The Coordinator will work closely with the Advancement team and CEO to support an illustrious Board and advance the mission.
Responsibilities
Communications (~60%)
- With the oversight of the Director of Communications, manage the Foundation’s social media accounts, blog posts and website content. Create written and visual content.
- Assist with writing and editing for marketing and donor communications and provide support for written content for donor materials
- Support measurement, tracking and response to media outcomes
- Support the Director of Communications on marketing and PR strategies
- Support upcoming rebranding efforts, including a planned website update
- Assist with events, including the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Awards.
Serve as Board liaison (~25%)
- Organize and attend Board meetings and social events
- Schedule and support meetings of the Board and its Committees
- Build relationships with Board members and their assistants
- Draft meeting minutes
- Draft communications to the Board
- Develop and distribute Board and Committee materials
Support the Advancement Team and CEO (~15%)
- Schedule and organize multi-party meetings
- Make travel arrangements and submit park guest list requests
- Compile CEO & CAO monthly expense reports
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
- 1+ years of experience in communications, especially social media platforms and performance metrics
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office. Familiar with WordPress/WooCommerce. Experience with Google Analytics, AdWords, Facebook Ad Manager, graphic design, Pardot, Salesforce/donor databases a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellence at multi-tasking and prioritization and in working both collaboratively and independently
- Results-driven, collaborative, detail-oriented, positive, and calm under pressure
- Interested in the Foundation’s mission and the areas of immigration, genealogy, historic preservation, and parks
- Experience with graphic design, video editing, photography, a plus
Logistics
- This is a full-time position with full benefits.
- This position pays $26.00
- $29.00 per hour for 35 hours/week.
- The work hours are generally Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm, but flexibility is required for occasional evening or weekend hours.
- This position will generally work from the Foundation’s offices at 17 Battery Place, though 1-2 days/week of remote work may be possible.
- New hires must be in-compliance with the Foundation’s COVID-19 Mandatory Vaccination Policy as of their first day of work. This policy requires employees to have received the COVID-19 vaccination (including boosters, when recommended), unless a reasonable accommodation is approved.
