Job Description

Deputy Director, Global Leadership Programs - Europe Lead

HYBRID | MULTIPLE STATES

About the Obama Foundation

At the Obama Foundation, we are guided by a core belief: that ordinary people working together can change history. Our mission is to inspire those people to take action, empower them to change their world for the better, and connect them so they can achieve more together than they can alone.

We were founded by community organizers, so when we seek change, we do it by bringing people together.

That approach begins at home, on the South Side of Chicago, where we are building the Obama Presidential Center. The Center represents a historic opportunity for Chicago: a chance to build a world-class museum and public gathering space that celebrates our nation’s first African American President and First Lady, steps away from where he began his career, where she was raised, and where—together—they made their home.

But that approach extends to all our work, whether it’s holding leadership training sessions in communities throughout the U.S., bringing local leaders together in countries around the world, working to support the global education of girls, or ensuring young men of color have pathways to opportunity.

As President Obama has said, “we cannot solve the challenges of our time unless we solve them together.” So join us.

Build and maintain partnerships with a broad set of organizations, institutions, and individuals, both inside and outside of the region, to build networks that can support the execution of shared strategies and programming. Research and identify program speakers, facilitators and other partners with an emphasis on thought-leaders from the region. Engage internal and external collaborators, such as contractors and consultants, to facilitate the timely and successful completion of delegated activities and deliverables. Adapt and implement an application and selection process for the regional leadership program. Lead the review and selection of an inclusive, highly skilled cohort of emerging leaders. Draft and manage a detailed approved budget for programming.
  • Team Collaboration: Work in close conjunction with other Deputy Directors and Foundation colleagues to build alignment and buy-in for program implementation. Manage workflow, deliverables, and performance of Program Associate and their work with the Strategic Operations team on program implementation. Collaborate with Global Leadership Network team members to support alumni engagement strategy as part of our goal of creating a dynamic global network of changemakers.
  • Development and Creative + Comms: Support donor and public engagement through programming opportunities and conversations with donors and prospects. Contribute to communications materials for the general public and to development reporting for funders, board, and the Foundation’s Creative + Comms Team.
