Events and Communications Intern (Fall 2024)

Description

The Events and Communications Intern will assist the Events and Communications Manager with developing, coordinating, and delivering a busy schedule of events and strategic communications. This will include helping manage outreach and participation with relevant stakeholders for a range of public and private events, drafting social media content, coordinating logistics (e.g., venue, food, participants, branding assets, name tents), assisting with photography needs, crafting strategic messaging, and identifying opportunities for engagement and raising brand awareness.


Requirements

  • Education:
  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate program studying communications, public relations, journalism, political science, international relations, media studies, event management, public policy, economics, or another relevant field. Demonstrated academic excellence. 
  • Skills and Attributes
  • Strong written and verbal skills. 
  • Excellent attention to detail. 
  • Digital proficiency (Microsoft Office, social media platforms). Familiarity with graphic design is a plus. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of people. 
  • Knowledge of media relations and communication strategies. 
  • Willingness to take initiative and be a team player. 
  • Ability to adapt to the work environment quickly. 
  • An interest in American-Australian relations. 
  • Experience
  • Previous internship or volunteer experience in communications, event planning, or a related field is a plus but not required. 
  • Experience with event coordination tasks, such as organizing logistics, handling vendors, or managing schedules, is advantageous. 


Additional Information

  • Compensation:  
  • ASPI will pay an hourly rate with flexible hours, not exceeding 30 hours per week, for the contract's duration.
