Regional Director, East/Midwest
We’re seeking a Regional Director who will oversee and provide leadership to the St. Louis metro, Chicago metro, Detroit metro, Cleveland, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati sites (please note: the exact make-up of the East/Midwest region is subject to change).
The Regional Director will work with the National Director of Operations to ensure all operational and programmatic aspects of the TBP model are carried out efficiently and effectively across East/Midwest region sites. The Regional Director uses data informed and staff centered management practices to ensure Operations Managers are optimizing site bailouts that adhere to Bailout Decision-making Framework (BODMF), while ensuring sites are delivering services with model fidelity, and contributing to local and state advocacy for pretrial reform. The East/Midwest Regional Director will ultimately have up to five direct reports who are directly overseeing up to two TBP sites each. The ideal candidate is a resilient, self-reflective and passionate leader, with program management and data analysis skills, and experience working in fast-paced, results-focused, and dynamic environments.
To excel in this role, you likely bring the following:
- You have deep familiarity with the criminal legal system (through education, criminal justice work, and/or personal experience with the system)
- You value and understand the importance of performance, quality and policy goals and have experience catalyzing a remote team to reach these; you’re diligent and hold yourself and others accountable to deadlines and outcomes despite complexity and challenges
- You have a demonstrated track record of managing a large team, ideally in different geographies

- You have experience and skill in building external partnerships to meet client needs

- You’re a strong communicator (written, verbal), comfortable with leaning into conflict, and have experience engaging and persuading a diverse array of stakeholders to work with TBP
- You’re able to identify potential challenges before they arise, conduct diagnoses, and offer and implement (and/or coach others to do so) potential solutions when needed; you have experience developing processes to address operational challenges
- You’re well organized and easily able to manage multiple work streams and adjust priorities on the fly
- You’re very comfortable with technology, including using Google Suite, running and analyzing reports in Salesforce, and you strive to nurture the technical expertise of those you manage
- You demonstrate deep dedication to achieving personal, team and organizational goals through allocating time effectively, analyzing data consistently for learning and driving improvements, and having thoughtful, open, and, if necessary, tough feedback conversations with staff
- You are motivated by delivering desired program results and learning how you can improve them

- You live in the East/Midwest region or you are open to relocating there
- You are currently a manager at TBP or have demonstrated experience in program management
Essential Responsibilities
- Optimize bailouts in the East/Midwest region informed by systematic data analysis for all sites
- Ensure implementation of the TBP model with fidelity and exercise accountability for the program and financial performance of sites within the region
- Work with Ops Managers to develop repeatable and scalable processes for all key site activities (i.e., identifying, interviewing and posting bail for clients; supporting clients during their cases; closing cases, collecting bail refunds and contesting forfeitures). Codify and document such processes by ensuring all sites have an up-to-date Path of a Case
- Ensure Operation Managers understand the essential duties of their job descriptions and the job descriptions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) of their staff
- Ensure Operation Managers are effectively training staff on operational standards and data collection and conducting ongoing training of staff using TBP training resources
- Implement organizational directives and ensure organizational policies and procedures are consistently followed by sites, but are locally adapted and responsive
- Ensure bailout decision making is documented according to BODMF standards
- Build capacity at each site and as a regional team to ensure managers become skilled at collecting, using, and analyzing data to manage to service completion goals and client outcomes
- Cultivate a culture of performance and learning by holding oneself and others accountable for program results through problem solving/solution building and frequent data review and analysis with managers; identify examples of high performance and innovation in the region and seek to replicate it elsewhere
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and constituents at sites and support sites in the achievement of local policy/advocacy and fundraising goals
- Ensure sites have the talent, resources, and partners to optimize their bailout targets while delivering high quality services; seek to eliminate unproductive processes
- Utilize action planning tool regularly with Operations Managers to document site learnings, achievements, and challenges; use the tool with direct reports to document follow-up steps and update team goals
- Identify areas of growth for direct reports and coordinate professional development opportunities that build pathways for leadership within and outside of the organization; pursue mastery of applying the breakthrough action leadership principles personally and with colleagues
- As a central support hub employee and regional leader of site operations, ensure staff understand the rationale for policies and procedures and navigate potential conflicts between support hub departments and local operations
