The Team

KFF’s Program on Medicaid and the Uninsured provides information and analysis on health care coverage and access for the low-income population with a special focus on Medicaid and coverage of people who are uninsured.


Your Role

KFF is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst to develop and carry out quantitative analyses related to Medicaid policy and coverage for the low-income population, as well as estimates of the effects of proposed changes to Medicaid and health coverage programs for low-income people.


What You’ll Do

  • Work independently and with senior staff to develop and conduct quantitative analyses using large national and state-level databases. Tasks include developing research questions and analytic approaches and conducting data management and complex statistical analysis.
  • Conduct policy analysis of emerging issues in Medicaid and health coverage for low-income populations based on review of policy documents, proposals, regulations, or other secondary data and sources.
  • Conceptualize and write fact sheets, policy briefs, and other background documents on key issues and prepare figures, tables, charts and other data visualizations.
  • K eep abreast of new policy developments affecting the Medicaid program and coverage for the low-income population.
  • Respond to media inquiries and p resent to outside group


Minimum Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience conducting quantitative data analysis (time earning Master's degree in public health, public policy, statistics, biostatistics, econometrics, or related field may count toward this requirement);
  • Database and statistical programming expertise in R;
  • Experience conducting research and analysis using large administrative, survey, or health claims databases, including data cleaning, quality assessment, imputation and statistical analysis;
  • Ability to synthesize secondary data, conduct original quantitative analyses, and communicate results clearly through tables, charts, and figures;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Knowledge of federal and state Medicaid and health coverage policy;
  • Ability to develop, initiate and conduct work independently and efficiently;
  • Strong organizational and management skills and attention to detail;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and manage the work of junior staff; and
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.

This full-time position will be based in KFF’s Washington, DC office, located downtown near Metro Center. KFF is currently working a hybrid schedule and requires all staff to work in the office a minimum of 2 days a week.


Compensation

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation includes an outstanding benefits package equivalent in value to approximately fifty percent of base salary including a generous and immediately vested defined contribution plan and zero-premium health coverage.


The annual salary range for the Senior Policy Analyst position is between $88,400 and $110,000. O ur job titles and salary ranges may span more than one career level, and the salary offered to a candidate will be determined based on factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, job-related knowledge and skill set, depth of experience, certifications and/or degrees, and our practice of upholding salary equity within the organization.
