The Flatbush YMCA is seeking an Older Adults Program Director who will be responsible of strategy, implementation, fidelity, and quality of the Older Adults programs and services. Under the supervision of the of the Executive Director, the Program Director is responsible for ensuring that the Young at Hearts Senior Center program meets all NYC Aging, Department of Health, and YMCA of Greater New York standards, expectations and regulations. They will provide leadership for the strategy, systems, supervision, and structure of the program. The Program Director will plan, organize, and implement a structured program consisting of engaging educational and recreational activities, health and wellness, case assistance, and congregate meals. They will ensure a high level of quality, communication, and collaboration within all staff and participants of the Young at Hearts Senior Center program.
Key Responsibilities:
Programmatic
- Provides input into budgetary and goal setting processes; oversees and manages expenditures; ensures adequate supply inventories.
- Manages administrative issues such data entry, human resources, space, security, and all other administrative duties/documentation required or assigned for the betterment of the program and facility in a timely fashion.
- Develops and maintains ongoing working relationships with other social services agencies, organizations, services clubs, and community groups; participates in active outreach at events in the community.
- Represents the Y at meetings and events with other agencies and the public.
- Oversees daily, monthly, quarterly, annual reporting and data entry for DFTA and other funders, ensuring timely entry and reporting as required.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state, local, and department laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Maintains accurate records pertaining to licensing requirements, facility, health, and safety.
- Ensures that food preparation equipment, cooking and serving utensils, kitchen work areas and the dining area are orderly, clean and sanitary.
- Oversees building/facilities operations such as repairs, janitorial maintenance, security, and safety issues; reports need for repairs and follows-up on services.
- Evaluates and monitors assigned activities/programs and recommends improvements.
- Investigates service complaints and recommends remedial action if required; ensures the quality and consistency of services provided by assigned staff.
- Performs duties of center staff as required.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the programs’ services by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Represents the Y with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
- Serves as a liaison to the YMCA, specifically the Executive Director and the Association Office.
- Develops and supports an Advisory Council of older adults.
- Attends required DFTA and YMCA meetings.
- Attends other meetings and trainings as needed and/or requested.
- Supervision and Planning of all program component/responsibilities.
- May interpret and present programs to participants, partners, boards and other community-based organizations.
- Maintains up to date referral network including MOUs and linkage agreements.
- Other duties assigned by supervisor.
Supervisory
- Recruit, interview, hire, train and supervise staff according to YMCA policies and best practices.
- Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of direct reports, including coverage of schedules due to vacations, sick time or personal time.
- Recruits, on-boards and supervises volunteers and interns by articulating expectations, displaying model behavior, maintaining open lines of communication and being clear about roles and relationships.
- Ensures that all programming delivered is contextualized, community-driven and integrates technology, family, health, and financial literacy both in person and virtually.
Additional Responsibilities
- Models the best practices of hospitality and positive culture.
- Provides support in all aspects of programming, including but not limited to community outreach, recruitment and participant outreach.
- Works enthusiastically as part of a team.
- Actively participates in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events.
- Other activities and duties as needed that address the ongoing health and well-being of our staff and members.
- Maintain sanitary habits in accordance with CDC guidelines.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and education, social work, mental health, or a relevant field is required.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with Older Adults- Case Management Experience preferred.
- Knowledge of services available in local community and citywide.
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Must be a self-starter, strong decision maker highly organized, patient and able to work well with others.
- Ability to manage government contracts and budgets in excess of $500,000.
- Bilingual preferred (Spanish).
