SUMMARY:

Reporting to an Evaluation Associate, the Research Assistant supports data collection and associated tasks for a statewide adolescent health survey. This is a full-time, hybrid position, for which some in-person time is required each week. CREEHS is a University-based research and evaluation center that provides independent and objective program evaluation, applied research, and program planning services to state and municipal agencies, school districts, colleges and universities, community organizations, and foundations to assist them in meeting their program improvement and accountability needs in the areas of education, public health, and human services. Since its inception in 2011, CREEHS’s goal has been to help our clients collect and use information in ways that improve their programs.

This position is a grant-funded position. Employment in a grant-funded position is contingent upon the availability of funding. Appointment to a grant-funded position may be limited to the duration of the grant and is subject to termination if/when funding expires or is otherwise no longer available.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with team members to plan and carry out applied research work.
  • Contribute to the development of data collection instruments (e.g., surveys, consent forms, recruitment materials).
  • Assist with applications to and ensure compliance with the university’s Institutional Review Board (IRB).
  • Program survey questions, manage survey instruments, and enter data in survey software (e.g., Qualtrics).
  • Assist with scheduling and recruiting participants for data collection activities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for a portfolio of schools participating in surveys.
  • Manage and summarize qualitative and quantitative data descriptively.
  • Support the preparation of reports and presentations, including the design of data visualizations (e.g., graphs, infographics, slide deck presentations).
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as note-taking, scheduling, and correspondence with school personnel.
  • Organize and manage data, program documentation, and files.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a social science field, including public health, education, evaluation, public administration, psychology, or other social science.
  • Minimum 1 year of post-degree professional experience providing applied research, program evaluation, market research, program planning, public administration, or related services to clients or partners.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).

PREFERRED:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Quick learner; flexible and willing to learn new ideas, content areas, and skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with respect to both numerical accuracy and proofreading.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a team while also being able to take initiative and work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders, including personnel in organizations and agencies inside and outside the university, particularly schools and school district officials.
  • Experience with Google Suite (e.g., Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendar).
  • Familiarity with online survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics, Google Forms).
  • Familiarity with research methods or following a standardized protocol.
  • Bilingual Spanish proficiency.
