About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Policy Analyst to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in researching, analyzing, and curating information related to Florida public policy. This is a part-time, W-2 position with the potential for full-time employment.


Responsibilities:

  • Track legislation and policy trends through actions of the Legislature and executive branch, agency rulemaking, and court cases
  • Summarize news stories, press releases, and legislative committee meetings
  • Prepare objective summaries of committee and floor debates and actions
  • Assist in creating policy materials, white papers, and presentations for clients
  • Support client relationship building efforts


Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3-4 years of experience in public policy, government affairs, journalism, or a related field preferred. Previous legislative experience is a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Business, Communications, Journalism, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.


Skills:

  • Excellent research, writing, and editing skills (AP style knowledge is a plus)
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to objectively analyze and summarize complex information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Strong interest in government affairs and the policymaking process


Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to be physically present in our Tallahassee office
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends during the legislative session
  • Willingness to provide writing samples of previous work


Availability

  • 20-30 hours per week
