Who are we hiring?
The Senior Director Communications Sphere works closely with VP Communications to lead communications activities and support key priorities across MSG Entertainment, including the Company’s broader growth plans. This role is specifically focused on planning and executing public communications for MSG Sphere and Sphere Studios, supporting Government Relations and CSR Initiatives, and other corporate matters such as crisis communications.
Position supports the Company’s management of matters/issues that affect its businesses or public personalities. This includes working with senior leaders across government affairs, legal, finance and business development units to develop effective communications plans to protect the Company and its businesses, while interacting with media as needed. This includes the development of rapid response strategies.
What will you do?
- Partners closely with VP Communications to support key priorities and elevate corporate communications function to support future growth of the MSGE business and Sphere brand.
- Responsible for ongoing Burbank and Las Vegas communications campaigns that elevate visibility for MSG Sphere and Sphere Studios in support of key milestones and as a buttress against possible public issues, continuing through construction and opening.
- Assist with the development of breakthrough events, announcements and communications that support MSG Sphere next generation positioning and the company’s leadership in technology, immersive entertainment, capture, creative content development, interactive, and design and engineering.
- Manage external agencies relationships that support Sphere brand communications.
- Engage with Government Affairs, CSR, Legal and other business units on corporate initiatives and create compelling press strategies around key priorities.
- Help lead the Company’s issue management, crisis communications, planning and execution, in coordination with legal and other executive stakeholders.
- Conduct strategic media outreach that supports the Company’s goals, enhances relationships, builds trust, and prepare executives for public engagements that raise the visibility of the Company.
- Assist in evaluating and enhancing key corporate materials that reflect the Company and its management, including bios, one-sheets, websites, boilerplates.
What do you need to succeed?
- 10+ years public relations and media experience
- Outstanding communications skills, particularly written
- Confidence working with executives in high pressure settings, under tight and unexpected deadlines
- Strategic thinker with the acumen to connect the dots on key issues across the business
- Attention to detail and ability to handle many projects at once
- Unflappable and a positive influence on all MSG Communications people
- Proficient in the development of integrated communications plans as well as crisis communications
- Experience working in a public company or public entity strongly preferred
- Experience managing a team and outside consultants

- Based in New York City with frequent travel to Burbank, CA and Las Vegas, NV
Pay Range
$134,000—$215,000 USD
