About the Role:
The Specialist, Public Affairs/Grassroots will play a crucial role in shaping and promoting the organization's public image and advocacy efforts. This role will focus on cultivating a nationwide network of advocates, organizing impactful events like Alliance Hill Days, contributing to policy communications, and assisting with the organization’s Political Action Committee (PAC). The Specialist will also stay informed on care at home legislative priorities and help shape the organization’s advocacy efforts. The specialist will work closely with various teams to ensure that messaging is consistent and impactful across all platforms. By leveraging data and feedback, the specialist will assess the effectiveness of campaigns and make necessary adjustments to enhance outreach efforts. Ultimately, this role aims to foster strong relationships with the community and drive meaningful engagement that influences public policy and opinion.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in public affairs, political science, communications, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in grassroots advocacy, legislative affairs, public affairs, or a related discipline.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams and craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational and event management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes at federal and state levels.
- Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, and public speaking.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with non-profit organizations, associations, or in a political campaign environment.
- Background in healthcare, government relations, grassroots advocacy, or communications/media.
- Experience assisting with or supporting a PAC.
- Familiarity with digital marketing strategies.
- Proficiency in data analysis and campaign performance metrics.
- Familiarity with advocacy tools and databases (e.g., Phone2Action, VoterVoice) is a plus.
Responsibilities:
· Grassroots Development and Deployment:
- Build, cultivate, and activate a robust network of grassroots and grasstops advocates.
- Monitor and analyze public policy developments and community sentiments to inform campaign strategies.
- Develop and implement strategies to grow grassroots participation and measure engagement through defined metrics.
- Create compelling content for various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and press releases.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure cohesive messaging and effective outreach efforts.
· Advocacy Event Coordination:
- Plan and execute Alliance Hill Days, including scheduling, logistics, and follow-up.
- Organize in-district events and member visits to strengthen connections between members and policymakers.
· Policy Communications Support:
- Assist in creating advocacy-related communications, including strategic messaging, policy briefs, and action alerts.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure alignment between policy and communications teams.
- Support the creation of compelling narratives to amplify policy priorities across various platforms.
· PAC Assistance:
- Provide administrative support for the Alliance PAC, including compliance tracking, donor outreach, and event coordination.
- Collaborate on strategies to increase PAC engagement and contributions.
· Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with grassroots advocates, policymakers, and coalition partners.
- Serve as a liaison between the policy and communications teams to foster collaboration and alignment.
- Administrative and Cross-Team Support:
- Maintain advocacy databases, tracking metrics to measure campaign and PAC engagement outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with the Policy and Advocacy team to align grassroots efforts with broader organizational priorities.
- Engage with community members, stakeholders, and local organizations to build support for initiatives.
