Duties

Typical work assignments may include:

  • Supports communications and outreach goals, objectives, and plans to ensure Congress, the executive branch, the media, and the public receives information about PRAC and partner OIGs' work and operations.
  • Creates content for and distributes a variety of written communications for internal and external audiences, including content for social media, web, newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, text for graphics, presentations, talking points, and other items as needed.
  • Researches, interprets, drafts, coordinates, produces, and reviews content in plain language.
  • Identifies, tracks, and reports issues of congressional, executive branch, media, and other public interest and activity to ensure PRAC and partner OIG personnel are kept appraised of legislative actions, congressional interests, and significant and/or emerging issues.
  • Coordinates communications with and responds to requests for information from the Congress, press, and public.
  • Researches and identifies potential partnership opportunities for the PRAC to reach our outreach and engagement objectives.
  • Assists in management of stakeholder listening sessions and events to promote public discussion of impact of pandemic response spending.
  • Supports and executes PRAC digital communications activities, including writing for the web, email communications, and social media.
  • Supports planning and implementation of new initiatives and projects that will enhance the effectiveness of oversight activities.

Qualifications

Experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the following:

  • Skill in writing a variety of products (including brochures, fact sheets, flyers, letters) for external audiences, including website and social media content for a variety of platforms.
  • Skill in coordinating external engagement activities, such as responding to requests for external speaking and information, preparing presentations and talking points, and researching issues of interest to external audiences.
  • Skill in assisting with plans and implementation of public events or segments of events, including managing invitations, developing agendas and planning documents, and managing on-the-ground logistics.
  • Skill in developing communications materials that interpret complex data for the general public.
  • Skill in interacting with others.

Additional information

On March 27, 2020, the President signed into law the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, creating the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee (PRAC) composed of Federal Offices of Inspector General to promote transparency and conduct and support oversight of covered funds and the Coronavirus response to (1) prevent and detect fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement; and (2) mitigate major risks that cut across program and agency boundaries.
