CAMPAIGN LEAD ORGANIZER

Democrats for the Illinois House, the official political arm of the Illinois House Democratic Caucus, is seeking experienced and enthusiastic individuals to serve as Campaign Lead Organizers for Democratic state legislative campaigns. Reporting to the Regional Field Director, a Lead Organizer is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of the strategic plan for the election or re-election of Democratic legislative candidates.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Researching the voting history of the district and developing a 50 plus 1 plan.
  • Developing a budget, working with candidates to execute a fundraising plan and overseeing the day to day finances of the campaign.
  • Working with the candidate to conduct direct voter outreach, organize their schedule and develop their policy positions.
  • Recruiting and managing volunteer canvasses and phone banks.
  • Management of the campaign including oversight of other paid staff members.
  • Outreach to constituency groups, progressive organizations and other key elected and party officials.
  • Working with the Regional Field Director, Communications Director and Political Director to implement key messaging and digital, mail and broadcast communications for the candidate.

Qualifications and required skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of previous campaign or other relevant experience, with an emphasis on voter contact, volunteer recruitment or grassroots organizing.
  • Experience in setting and achieving measurable targets, managing teams, and coordinating between multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
  • Ability to work effectively with local elected and party leaders and the general public.
  • Enthusiasm for Democratic politics.
  • Excellent listening skills and ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Additional skills desired:

  • Experience with Voter Access Network (NGP VAN), Excel and Social Media.
  • Understanding of state policy issues.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Polish or other second language a plus but not required.

There are multiple open positions available. Democrats for the Illinois House is located in Westchester, Illinois. Campaign leads are assigned to districts in the Chicagoland area.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 per year
