Community Mediation Services Elmhurst Community Partnership Community Organizer
As stated by the NYC Administration for Children’s Services, the Community Partnerships represent the agency’s ongoing commitment to partner with communities to advance primary prevention strategies. Their ultimate aim is to improve child and family well-being, based on a philosophy and foundational frameworks described as follows: Collective Impact necessitating diverse stakeholder involvement, including residents, organizations, and systems, to collectively define a problem, develop shared strategies and goals, and implement the work together; Two- (or Multi-) Generational Approach focused on creating programs and policies that address the needs of vulnerable children and their parents/caretakers together; and Equity Framework focused on explicitly addressing issues of racial, gender and LGTBQ equity in communities, and implicit bias in service provision and policy. Five core strategies are employed: Build Partnerships that engage public, non-profit, private and grassroots stakeholders Coordinate Service Referrals among local provider and city programs Build Social Capital by supporting Community Ambassadors in peer-led programs Support Community Knowledge through events focused on primary prevention Inform City Policy and Practice related to child and family well-being The vision is to strengthen primary prevention through community capacity-building and development that will, in turn, drive systems improvement and transformation.
