Project Green Challenge (PGC) informs, inspires, and mobilizes students globally around climate action, public health, sustainability, social justice and advocacy. This powerful and diverse call to action features 30 days of environmentally-themed challenges that change lives, shift mindsets, and equip students with knowledge, resources and mentorship to lead change on campuses and in communities. Through conscious living, informed consumption, and individual and collective action, PGC participants are challenged to envision and work toward a healthy, just, resilient planet and future in which they can thrive.

The Turning Green Internship / Fellowship program inspires young leaders both personally and professionally, while contributing to the mission and vision of this organization. Internships focus on a variety of projects, including working with staff across all aspects of the organization or a focus on specific programs including Project Green Challenge and Conscious Kitchen. We also have specialty internships focused on Communications, Graphic Design, and data mapping across all Turning Green programs. 

Job Title: Program Manager, Conscious Campus

Classification: Exempt, Full Time

Compensation: $80,000 - $85,000

Regular full-time employees accrue five (5) days of paid vacation after six (6) months of full-time employment and continue to accrue one (1) day of paid vacation at the end of each month, with a maximum of ten (10) days of annual paid vacation. Additionally, ten (10) days of paid federal holidays. 

Employees are entitled to five (5) paid sick days per calendar year. Additionally, employees may take up to two (2) additional personal days, as needed.


Job Overview:

The Program Manager position is a full-time, exempt position. This position reports to the Executive Director and works alongside members of the cross-functional team within the organization. It is a leadership role that requires a proactive, organized and strategic thinker who can drive projects to successful completion while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Responsibilities: 

Program Planning and Execution

  • Develop and maintain program plans for both Project Green Challenge (PGC) and the Internship / Fellowship program, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate and oversee the projects within the programs to ensure they are on track.
  • Define project scopes, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with the executive director, team members and stakeholders.
  • Develop and lead detailed project plans, schedules, and associated communications documents.
  • Ensure program deliverables meet quality standards and are delivered on time and within budget.

Strategic Alignment 

  • Work closely with leadership to align program goals with the broader mission, goals, and strategies of Turning Green. This includes contributing to the development of strategic plans and ensuring that program activities support these plans.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the success and impact of the program. Use data-driven insights to adjust strategies and ensure continuous alignment with organizational objectives.

Stakeholder Management

  • Proactively identify key stakeholders including students, educators, community leaders, corporate partners, and non-profit organizations. Develop engagement strategies to involve them in program activities and ensure their needs and expectations are met.
  • Cultivate strong, positive relationships with stakeholders to build trust and enhance cooperation. Understand stakeholder interests and leverage their expertise and resources to support program goals.


Fundraising

  • Research and identify potential funding sources, including individuals, corporations, and foundations. Develop targeted fundraising strategies to secure financial support.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to funders on the use of funds and program outcomes. Maintain transparent financial records and provide regular updates to donors.
  • Plan and execute fundraising events, from initial concept to final follow-up. Ensure events are well-organized, engaging, and successful in meeting fundraising goals.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting 

  • Develop and implement systems to monitor program progress and performance against established goals and metrics. Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Prepare and present regular status reports to senior management and other stakeholders. Highlight key achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Establish feedback mechanisms to gather input from participants, stakeholders, and team members. Use feedback to make informed decisions and improve program outcomes.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and Motivate Teams: Provide leadership and direction to fellows, interns, and volunteers. Foster a collaborative and productive work environment that encourages innovation and teamwork.
  • Lead Year-Round Internship Program: Oversee the internship program, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and supervision of interns. Ensure interns have meaningful experiences and opportunities for professional growth.
  • Lead Communications Efforts: Oversee internal and external communications, including social media, blogs, and newsletters. Develop and implement communication strategies to promote program activities and achievements.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 2+ years of professional experience with educational and/or advocacy projects and/or experience in digital and written communications.
  • General understanding of climate change and related topics and a passion for education around climate solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing strong relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, managing interrelated projects concurrently.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an inclusive team environment.
  • Well-versed in Google Workspace and Microsoft Suite of products.
  • Skills in graphic design are preferred (but not required).
  • Have a valid driver’s license and access to a car.
  • Local residency in the Bay Area.
  • Interest in building a healthy, just, resilient future for people and the planet.

Special Skills 

  • Expertise in graphic design, data mapping, ArcGIS story mapping, and WordPress is welcome.
