WHAT YOU'LL DO

 

As a registered federal lobbyist, the Government Relations Manager will build and maintain relationships with policymakers, agencies, and officials to bolster support for AACOM’s public policy priorities and strategic goals. They will develop and disseminate legislative and regulatory updates, alerts, and other pertinent information to AACOM’s membership and the broader public. The role involves facilitating government relations groups and managing events such as AACOM’s lobby day(s) and Capitol Hill briefings, representing AACOM before Congress, the Administration, federal agencies, and external stakeholders. The manager will administer and enhance the grassroots advocacy network, engage members in legislative and regulatory advocacy, and identify and recruit grasstop leaders. They will monitor and report on political, legislative, and regulatory trends affecting AACOM and its members. Additionally, the manager will draft government relations content, including website material, social media posts, newsletters, fact sheets, talking points, and public policy issue briefs. 

 

WHO WE NEED 

 

Our ideal team member will have the following: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of professional experience required.  
  • Experience in an association setting with government relations/advocacy/lobbying function preferred. 
  • Knowledge of federal healthcare and education policy. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to present on behalf of the association at various meetings and events. 
  • Ability to think strategically and critically evaluate legislative and regulatory risks and opportunities. 
  • Capacity to quickly grasp and provide guidance on strategic solutions to address association/industry issues. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications. Knowledge of CQ Engage and Microsoft Teams a plus.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS 

 

This is a full-time position with health, dental, vacation and 403(b) benefits. The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 annually.
