Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist

Summary
The position is located in the Strategic Communications Management Unit of the Bureau of Information Resource Management (IRM/SCM), in the U.S. Department of State. This position functions as a public affairs officer and supervisor of the Strategic Communications Management Unit. The incumbent directs the development and implementation of internal communications activities and manages the programs and resources assigned to the Strategic Communications Office.
Duties
Plans and assigns work to be accomplished, sets priorities for subordinates and tailors assignments based on the nature and complexity of work, working conditions and employee training needs.
Plans, organizes, develops, and directs a comprehensive program of external affairs services designed to actively represent the Bureau's interests in interactions with external stakeholder groups, Congress, the media, and the public.
Serves as the legislative affairs officer for the Bureau, coordinating all Bureau activities regarding relations with Congress.
Develops plans, strategies, and policies designed to advance the Bureau's interests with members of Congress and their staffs.
Plans and directs all activities associated with information and educating the public and Department of State about the Bureau's mission, programs, activities, and services.
