The Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives is responsible for fostering seamless execution, coordination, and continuous improvement across all Alliance community activities. They will spearhead the coordination of work across all Alliance community initiatives and workstreams, creating a seamless and organized membership experience for participating organizations while also ensuring that our Alliance possesses the infrastructure and processes required to deliver work at the highest standards of excellence. 

The Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives will be responsible for handling various tasks and assisting in communicating the CEO’s strategy and organizational priorities across APA internal teams. The role requires an individual who is results-oriented, highly analytical, strategic, and innovative. Main responsibilities include organizing and supporting the implementation of strategic projects across the entire Alliance Community team to address organizational priorities and improve the experience of Alliance members. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact within the youth-supporting field and collaborate with various teams across America’s Promise Alliance.

Responsibilities  

Process, Operations and Infrastructure 

  • Develop and maintain annual Alliance calendar. 
  • Lead the ideation on new process and infrastructure needs and the creation of annual roadmaps. 
  • Oversee the scoping and roll out of all Alliance infrastructure activities. 
  • Serve as Alliance community liaison to APA internal (Ops) and External (comms and fundraising) teams. 
  • Oversee and support the infrastructure creation of Salesforce builds for the APA Development Team and Alliance Team. 
  • Creates and implements tools, templates, and processes on projects to ensure deliverables are met on time. 
  • Partner with Operations team to help build capabilities among other project leaders within the organization. 

Performance Management 

  • Monitor our progress to goals. When challenges arise, align key stakeholders to develop solutions. 
  • Plan and facilitate Alliance Leadership meetings. 
  • Develop, manage, and monitor project plans for multi-team Alliance initiatives. 
  • Establish project prioritization criteria and processes, to ensure APA is utilizing resources on the right projects. 
  • Partner with APA VPs on respective change initiatives related to project management practices to strengthen the transitions and adoption by project teams. 

Learning & Codification 

  • Write and distribute bi-weekly Alliance digest for internal leaders. 
  • Lead content aggregation for Alliance monthly updates. 
  • Codify and communicate about the work of our Alliance to key stakeholder groups (Board of Directors, Youth Trustee BOD, funders (in partnership with the development team). 

Alliance Convening 

  • Support the planning and execution of Alliance convenings 

Strategic Projects & CEO Support 

  • Support APA’s CEO in the design and management of strategic projects. 

Competencies & Experience 

  • 5-7 years of experience working directly with CEOs, leadership teams, or senior leaders 
  • Extensive Salesforce expertise with strong data system design experience 
  • Deep Project Management experience, with PM (PMI, others) credentials preferred 
  • Effective coordination, stakeholder engagement, and change management 
  • Accountability for outcomes through proactive leadership and taking initiative 
  • Ability to adapt and persist through challenges 
  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial or startup environment  
  • Ability to work collaboratively
