POSITION OVERVIEW

The Donor Services Associate (DSA) is an integral member of the Donor Services team focused on providing the highest level of service and support for the Donor Advised Fund (DAF) program. The DSA works closely with the Donor Services Manager, Vice President of Philanthropic Initiatives, and Finance team to lead administrative and systems management support, while guiding donor advisors in achieving their charitable giving goals.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position based in Brooklyn and reports to the Donor Services Manager.  Occasional evening and weekend work is part of the expectations for the person in this role.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as main point of contact for current and prospective fund holders with inquiries about the Brooklyn Org’s DAF program and provide assistance with their charitable giving goals.
  • Support the Vice President of Philanthropic Initiatives, Donor Services Manager, Development and Communications teams in the preparation and dissemination of marketing and promotional materials (both in-print and online) about Brooklyn Org’s DAF program to target markets and constituencies.
  • Record and maintain all contributions and grants records, utilizing fund management platforms; generating and sending weekly reports, supporting our DAF team on monthly/quarterly financial reconciliation, coordinating with third party vendors to resolve donor management issues and contacting donors to maintain guardianship of donor intent.
  • Draft and issue timely donor acknowledgments and grantee award letters, as needed.
  • Work with the Vice President of Philanthropic Initiatives and Donor Services Manager to improve departmental workflows, enhance accessibility and user functionality of donor portal/database, and maintain fund documents, including an explicit focus on upgrading our donor portal and database processes.
  • Provide general support including schedule management for Donor Services Manager and Vice President of Philanthropic Initiatives, coordinating in-office and external meetings and events, assist in sending out mailings, and other administrative tasks as necessary.
  • Support planning and coordination of virtual and in-person donor events.
  • Coordinate with appropriate Development team members to ensure accuracy and donor intent of DAF contributions.
  • Participate actively in BKO’s Racial Justice Learning Series.
  • Contribute emerging ideas, address challenges, and problem-solve solutions to team and during all-staff meeting discussions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant development and/or administrative experience.
  • Proficiency in CommunitySuite CRM tools, a major plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a broad range of constituents and keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with nonprofits, including grant-making organizations, charitable giving funds, and/or fiscal sponsorships.
  • Passionate about creating opportunities for Brooklyn’s residents; knowledge of Brooklyn nonprofits a plus.
  • Commitment to the Foundation’s racial equity focus and core values.
  • Interest in community philanthropy and community engagement.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity; discretion in working with confidential information
  • Ability to work both independently and as a part of a collaborative team; to take both initiative and direction.
  • Ability to apply creative problem solving and troubleshoot challenges as they arise.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Brooklyn Org has a competitive and exhaustive benefits and leave plan and the salary range for this position is $55,000 – $65,000 dependent on the successful candidate’s background and experience.
