The Office of Rep. Kweisi Mfume (MD-07) is seeking an experienced and committed Scheduler. Responsibilities for the position include managing the Member's official business, including scheduling Committee obligations, Member-level meetings, press interviews, and various DC and District-based events. 

The Scheduler coordinates with the communications and legislative teams to manage the collection of talking points and other preparation documents for the Congressman’s meetings, speaking engagements, and other events for the Member's binder and ensures it is updated daily with the appropriate materials. 

The Scheduler supports the drafting of the Congressman’s correspondences, including meeting follow ups and thank you letters; arranges for the travel of the Member and for staff traveling on official business, both air and ground; coordinates special projects for the Congressman; and manages the administrative responsibilities of the Staff Assistant and other employees conducting administrative tasks. 

The Scheduler reports to the Chief of Staff and supports senior staff with any additional operational needs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

This is not an entry level position. Successful candidates will have a minimum of three years related work experience and a bachelor’s degree.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: 

  • Proactive, highly detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Fluent in the utilization of Microsoft Office Suite and video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, etc.);
  • Strong communication, organizational and writing skills;
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends;
  • Knowledge of the legislative process, procedures, and organization of the House;
  • Knowledge of current issues and events in which the Member is involved; and
  • Able to drive Member to various DC and/or District obligations preferred or when necessary.
