Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) is looking for highly motivated Press Secretary with exceptional writing skills. Ideal applicant is a fast and dynamic writer, detail-oriented, has on-the-record press experience, and able to handle numerous policy issues in a fast-paced media environment. The Press Secretary will be responsible for writing press releases, advisories, press statements, op-eds, and other materials for Senate functions. He, she, or they will also help coordinate interviews with reporters, set up and direct press conferences, manage relationships with national and local media, and brief the Senator. The ideal applicant will have at least 2-5 years of demonstrated experience working on a communications team, preferably on Capitol Hill or in a campaign setting. Candidates from BIPOC, LGBTQ+, working class, military, and/or other underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply, as well as candidates with ties to Massachusetts.
