Serve America is a political action committee that supports Democratic candidates for public office who have backgrounds in national or public service or who represent a new generation of leadership in elected office. Serve America was founded and is led by Congressman Seth

Moulton (MA-06). We endorse candidates for the U.S. Senate, U.S House of Representatives, and state and local offices across the country. All of our candidates are mission-driven and service-focused, regardless of their backgrounds.

Our organization is built around six core values: courage, empathy, authenticity, action, transparency, and growth. Those are the same six values that Congressman Moulton’s teams have been centered around since he was first elected to Congress, and we try to live up to them in everything we do--from our internal culture to our public communications to our interactions with voters in the field.

Job Description

Our internships provide people with the unique opportunity to develop professional and personal skills, specifically in the world of political action committees, politics, service, and leadership.

Interns will be involved in the day-to-day tasks of a political leadership organization. While the intern will be primarily focused on the Finance department, the unique vantage point of working with this organization promotes growth in several areas: critical thinking, research, organization, workplace decorum, acquisition of skills and knowledge of how PACs operate, and more. The exposure to a wide variety of information and hands-on experience allows for the individual to make an impact and learn a significant amount. We are a small team, which allows the intern to gain exposure to our broader efforts across the organization.

The Finance Department is responsible for raising money for Serve America PAC and for our endorsed candidates. Through this internship, you will become versed in campaign finance and fundraising principles. This includes preparing the principle for call time, event planning, conducting donor research, and carrying out research projects to further department goals and long term strategy. In this position, you will report directly to the Finance Manager.

Internship Details

This is a paid internship with a $1000 per month stipend for three months, with the option to extend for additional months. The start date is flexible with the possibility to begin as early as

March/April or later towards May/June.

Who are we looking for?

This opportunity is open to all levels, for individuals who are highly motivated and have a passion for our mission. For some, this opportunity will serve as a chance to augment their academic studies, while others will use this to explore a new interest in the political field. We are looking for interns who are particularly energized to learn and dedicated individuals who can work individually and in team settings.

As this is a telework internship, applicants should be able to prioritize and complete tasks without constant supervision. Exceptional writing and data management skills are required.

Previous experience with NGP or other customer relationship systems is a bonus, but not required. You do not need to have previous experience working in political campaigns or campaign fundraising to apply to this internship, though it may be helpful. An interest in national politics, however, is highly desirable.

Please note that due to COVID-19, our office is currently teleworking and internships will be remote. You are not required to be in the Washington, D.C. area for this internship.
