About the Marketing and On-Air Promotions Manager Role:
BRIC seeks a Marketing & Communications Manager who will report to the Senior Marketing Manager, and will oversee the development and execution of comprehensive marketing plans for BRIC’s programming, primarily under the umbrella of Media. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of BRIC’s marketing needs around Brooklyn Free Speech, Brooklyn’s Public Access initiative, BRIC TV, BRIC’s Emmy award-winning nonprofit cable television channel and digital network, Government Affairs, Media Education programming and Rentals. You will work in partnership with the Senior Manager and Senior Director to strategize around long-term planning and strategic marketing for these distinct initiatives, while shaping a long-term strategy that scales our media programming and increases brand awareness.
What You’ll Do in the Role:
The Marketing & Communications Manager will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Senior Marketing Manager:
- Working closely with the Senior Marketing Manager and the program teams, to develop and manage a detailed marketing plan for:
- BRIC TV and Brooklyn Free Speech, to maximize the attendance at events and reach of the seasons/ videos produced.
- Media Education programming to maximize enrollment in classes.
- BRIC’s rental events, to spread awareness about all rental offerings and to fulfill the marketing obligations of the rental agreements.
- Government Affairs, to maximize impact of our events and initiatives related to Government Relations.
- Working closely with the Senior Marketing Manager, and BRIC’s Community & Media teams, develop and manage a content calendar and strategy that utilizes the work of community producers who create content for Brooklyn Free Speech year-round.
- Lead and plan marketing efforts associated with live events related to Community Media, including Media Maker Weekend & B Free Awards, and co-manage BRIC TV screenings, season launches, and more.
- Manage influencer marketing and advertising opportunities for live events related to the different areas of programming
- Update and oversee any forms, surveys and marketing recaps for Brooklyn Free Speech programs.
- Maintain weekly/monthly metric reports to measure performance indicators across the managed marketing campaigns, and monitor the performance of YouTube platforms and cable channels; participate in developing/collecting audience research and regularly reporting on metrics.
- In partnership with the Social Media Manager, unearth and strategically repurpose archival community content across social media to tie BRIC into larger cultural moments and conversations.
- Support cross-team marketing efforts on ONE BRIC events, such as the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! and BRIC JazzFest.
- Accompany the Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications and Senior Manager in meetings with external PR firms and help shape overall PR strategy.
- Work with Social Media Manager to cultivate strategy around paid or organic social strategies.
- Work in partnership with the Senior Manager to effectively market BRIC’s non-event based programming and institutional voice and messaging.
- Work in partnership with the Senior Graphic Designer on all print and digital marketing needs for the BRIC departments.
- Work on additional projects and initiatives as assigned by the Senior Marketing Manager.
- Shape the strategy of developing the public-facing image and messaging of individual programming arms of BRIC.
- Be an ambassador for BRIC at events and programming.

Other Things to Know:
- Compensation: The annual salary range for this position is $50K - $60K.
- Status and location: This is a full-time, non-exempt role based in our Brooklyn office.

BRIC currently pays 100% of the premium for employee medical, dental and vision coverage starting on the first of the month after 2 months of employment.
