TITLE: Government Relations Director


REPORTS TO: Vice President, Government Relations


JOB SUMMARY:

The Government Relations Director builds, develops, and manages relationships with federal

lawmakers and staff to strategically advance conservative policy priorities. As a registered

lobbyist, the Government Relations Director will primarily oversee advocacy efforts in the U.S.

House and coordinate daily with the Heritage Action Grassroots, Communications, and Digital

teams.


JOB DUTIES:

● Act as a representative of Heritage Action in conducting lobbying activities in the U.S.

House.

● Develop and maintain relationships with House staff to advance conservative policy

solutions.

● Attend weekly stakeholder meetings with coalition partners and Hill staff.

● Understand and communicate weekly House floor and committee activity to all Heritage

Action teams.

● Refine policy messaging communicated through digital platforms.

● Provide substantive technical assistance and bill endorsements to House offices.

● Advise on the Heritage Action scorecard.

● Maintain a thorough understanding of the political, policy, and strategic landscapes of

Congress.


SKILL FACTORS:

● Education: BA/BS required

● Experience: 5-7 years of policy and/or lobbying experience


Requirements:

● Self-starter with a willingness to innovate.

● Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

● Established relationships with the U.S. House.

● Familiarity with coalition building and lobbying activities.
