Salary range: $60,000 - $75,000 (based on experience level & location)

Founded in 2009, StartOut is a global community of over 25K members and is the largest organization supporting LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs. We serve all growth entrepreneurs of the LGBTQ+ community regardless of ethnicity, identity, or gender. Our membership is diverse in gender, race, identity, geographic location, and industries. We connect our professionals, promote successes, and research the economic impact of LGBTQ+ contributions, thus creating a virtuous cycle of inspiration, support, and success with our community at the center.


Mission:

As StartOut Mentorship Program Manager, you will be in charge of managing our mentorship program and the Expert Office Hours support service. 

As part of a small but highly effective team to advance the economic empowerment of the LGBTQ+ community, you will be responsible for matching participants with mentors each week as well as for sourcing and onboarding new mentors on an ongoing basis Our program relies on manual matching based on rigorous assessment and analysis of founder/mentor applications. All our mentors are volunteers who commit to providing guidance to LGBTQ+ founder 2 hours/ month for 6 months. 


A Day in the Life:

  • Keeping our mentees happy by matching them with mentors in a timely manner
  • Following-up with a diverse group of mentees and mentors to confirm they are happy with their match
  • Assessing satisfaction by sending surveys to program participants
  • Tracking and reporting on program metrics by logging all actions into Salesforce
  • Engaging with  our corporate sponsors to recruit mentors for the program
  • Planning and facilitating recruitment drives, events and other initiatives to increase mentor sourcing and mentor engagement
  • Planning and facilitating mentor orientations and trainings 
  • Support our DEI goals by seeking out and sourcing BIPOC mentors in our community to increase representation and  access to diverse talent and perspectives by our founder members.

 

Additional Founder Support Services

  • Promoting and coordinating the Expert Officer Hours support service
  • Sourcing experts in residence (EIRs) for the Expert Office Hours service

 

About You:

  • You have 3+ years of experience as a Program or Project Manager. 
  • You are very familiar with the startup/entrepreneurship world, especially with mentorship programs. 
  • You are detail oriented and organized - you love making order from chaos and take great pleasure in helping others tie up loose ends.
  • You are a self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments - when you don’t know what to do next, you know how to leverage online resources, and can do a little sleuthing through shared resources as a first step, but recognize when to ask for help to ensure maximum efficiency. 
  • You live by deadlines and are a master communicator - you can keep yourself organized and deliver on time. When you sense a delay, you are quick to flag it and communicate roadblocks. Nothing falls through the cracks on your watch.
  • You are committed to diversity, equity & inclusion – you see the world through an intersectional lens.
  • You’re tech savvy and enjoy learning new systems to improve efficiency.
  • Bonus Points: you have experience using Salesforce or other CRM software.
