What’s In It For You:

NEEP is based in Massachusetts, with staff in locations around the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region. We are a remote-first organization, which allows our employees to work in any of NEEP's 13 states/jurisdictions in the region. As the Associate, Marketing & External Relations you will play a pivotal role on our strategic marketing & communications team, connecting NEEP’s energy efficiency expertise and our stakeholders. The Associate, Marketing & External Relations is responsible for:

  • Developing Marketing Materials
  • Supporting Event Coordination
  • Maintaining Stakeholder Engagement

A Day In The Life Of This Role:

Organizational Marketing and Communications

  • Create Engaging Content: Develop high-quality digital and print marketing materials with the support of your team. This includes logos, webpages, blogs, reports, social media posts, graphics, slide presentations, emails, photos, and videos.
  • Social Media: Develop and execute engaging content for NEEP’s social media channels (LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, X), engage with partner content, and compile analytics reports to understand and expand our online presence.
  • Website Updates: Regularly update the NEEP website, ensuring it is secure, functional, and optimized. Collaborate with colleagues for content creation, troubleshoot issues, and produce web analytics reports.
  • Strategic Planning: Assist with the maintenance of NEEP’s strategic communications calendar to reflect our marketing and promotional timelines effectively.

Events

  • Event Marketing: Support NEEP events with branding, EventBrite registration, speaker and sponsorship toolkits, social media campaigns, graphics, slide presentations, and external communications to highlight partnerships and achieve event goals.
  • Internal Promotion: Promote events internally using the organizational calendar, Slack, internal toolkits and staff email signatures to ensure team-wide awareness and engagement.
  • In-Person Event Support: Assist in managing in-person events like summits and workshops by providing on-location logistical support, ensuring proactive customer service for speakers, sponsors, Allies, attendees, and staff.
  • Virtual Event Coordination: Support virtual webinars via Zoom and Microsoft Teams, providing logistical support by setting up webinars, developing calendar notices for speakers, and creating and sharing slide presentations for smooth execution.

Allies Network

  • Onboarding and Engagement: Seamlessly onboard new NEEP Allies, promoting the partnership and supporting continuous engagement through regular communications.
  • Database Management: Maintain and update the Allies Network directory, ensuring current and accurate information to facilitate active participation.
  • Communication and Outreach: Coordinate, layout and send weekly Allies Intel emails using MailChimp, gathering news, reviewing content, and ensuring high-quality communication.
  • Maximize Program Benefits: Regularly reach out to Allies to help them fully leverage their program benefits, track complimentary passes, and co-promote marketing activities through our channels.

What We Need From You:

  • Marketing and Communications Experience: At least 6 months proven experience or academic achievement in marketing, communications, external relations, or a related field.
    • Passionate About Sustainability: Genuine interest in climate, energy efficiency, energy justice, or environmental issues.
  • Design Skills: Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, & Illustrator), Canva, and other design software to create compelling visuals within our brand efficiently.
  • Virtual Event Experience: Skilled in using Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and other virtual event platforms.
  • Organizational Competence: Exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing and tracking multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Independent and Collaborative: Ability to take direction, work independently, and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Inclusive Communicator: Ability to communicate across differences, recognizing the needs and priorities of diverse individuals and communities.
  • Email Marketing Savvy: Experience with email marketing services, with a preference for Mailchimp.
  • Website Maintenance: Knowledgeable in website maintenance, including content management systems and Google Analytics.
  • Technical Know-How: Some experience with Drupal and video production is a plus. A drive to find solutions a must.
  • Commitment: This is a full-time, exempt position scheduled for 40 hours per week, with the potential for additional evening and weekend hours when required.

Salary Range: The salary for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience, offering a range of $55,000-$65,000 annually.

Applicants must reside in one of NEEP’s 13 states/jurisdictions in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic region (Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia.

The position is exempt and scheduled 40 hours per week although additional hours including evenings and weekends may be required.
