Job Summary: Museum of the Moving Image seeks a Development Manager to provide essential support to the Museum's Development Department at a pivotal moment of growth. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Development, the Development Manager will provide day-to-day support for all fundraising activities, with a particular focus on donor management and stewardship. This position will touch all aspects of institutional fundraising, including grantwriting, corporate sponsorship, gala events, government grants, and individual giving.

This position can contribute enormously to the future success of the Museum.

MoMI celebrates the history, art, technology, and future of the moving image. By championing experimentation and digital literacy in and around screen-culture, we seek to inform, entertain and inspire, expanding access to technology for all and making the worlds beyond the screen more equitable. The Museum fulfills its mission through temporary and permanent exhibitions, film screenings, live conversations with artists, filmmakers, scholars, media educators, and other industry professionals, access to the Museum’s expansive collection, and robust education programs. Anchored in Astoria, Queens, one of the most diverse places in the country if not the world, each year we welcome 250,000 in-person visitors.

●      ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

●      Researches corporate, foundation, individual, and government funding prospects for exhibitions, film programs and other Museum projects; supports development of solicitation materials, outreach and follow up

●      Supports the data collection required for grant applications and reporting

●      Maintains individual donor, government, foundation and corporate records and ensures the accuracy of the donor database and grants calendar, with up-to-date contact information, contributions, and relationship status; pulls reports as needed

●      Implements stewardship plans, including ensuring proper compliance and crediting of donors across an array of materials and fulfillment of all grant terms and sponsorship benefits.

●      Provides administrative and fundraising support for large-scale benefit events including the twice-annual Moving Image Awards with high-profile industry honorees.

●      Keeps abreast of Museum exhibitions, screenings, public programs, and education program plans as well as new developments within the broader fields of arts, culture, film, and technology.

●      Supports the Deputy Director of Development, Assistant Director of Development, Development Department, and Executive Director with administration, communications, solicitations, meeting preparation, scheduling, and more

●      Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:

●      Bachelor’s Degree

●      Minimum of two years' experience in fundraising, preferably in an arts institution

●      Interest in arts, culture, film, media, and digital landscape

●      Working knowledge of grant and development databases

●      Ability to conduct comprehensive donor research

●      Ability to take initiative and make decisions solving problems independently, effectively and creatively

●      Strong writing ability essential

●      Organized with meticulous attention to detail

●      Able to thrive in a deadline-driven multi-tasking environment

●      Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively 

●      Professional, ability to interact with a diverse constituency, and ability to act with discretion around sensitive donor information

●      Please note this position is hybrid: requires a minimum of 3 days in-person at the Museum.
