Overview:

Salem Media Group under the division of Salem Political Sales is looking for an exceptional individual to join our National Political & Government Sales team in a “political/government first” role with the Salem Political Solutions team based in Washington DC. This position, National Media Strategist, is an Account Executive (Sales) for our political team and will be responsible for monthly sales goals. Salem Political Solutions works with political advertising agencies, digital advertising agencies, DC think tanks, political issue and advocacy groups, and public affairs companies to develop successful multi-media advertising campaigns. This person needs to be well versed in the political publisher industry, as well as have extensive background in digital sales.

This is a “Hybrid” position!
Responsibilities:
  • Generating comprehensive political and government deals, new business generation of this vertical is a necessity. Candidates should have sales experience.
  • Bring knowledge, wealth of contacts, and strong relationship skills to effectively navigate the political/government media landscape.
  • Must have a strong understanding of the political media marketplace with a robust network of client & agency relationships.
  • Must understand the government media marketplace with an understanding of government RFP’s and the process.
  • Understand the Political Agency/Issue/Advocacy/DC Landscape
Qualifications:
  • Impeccable character-honesty, integrity, excellence
  • 3-5 years of successful media sales experience using multiple media tactics including publisher sites, radio, OTT, digital, audio and events.
  • 3-5 years of successful political media sales experience and being a part of a high performing media sales team
  • 3-5 years of selling national campaigns
  • 3-5 years of successful experience working in local and statewide markets.
  • 2-3 years of DC political publisher site experience
  • 1-2 years of successful government media sales experience
  • Ability to sell to clients and understand the sales process including cold calling.
  • Proven record of budget attainment
  • Proven ability to creatively achieve clients’ marketing goals.
  • Proven digital marketing aptitude.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Reputation for discernment and wise decision-making

Compensation: $125,000 - $185,000 per year and includes generous commission and bonus-based package
