Facebook is looking for a Safety Policy Manager to work on safety and well-being policy issues specific to minors on our services. The Safety Policy Manager will partner with the broader Safety Policy Team and other cross-functional teams, including product teams, at Facebook to identify and address safety and well-being issues specific to minors on our services and provide related expert guidance. Work will include helping develop policies, tools, resources and initiatives to address youth specific safety and well-being issues; providing product guidance and building partnerships to help advance youth safety and well-being on our services; identifying, monitoring and responding to relevant legislative and regulatory issues; and helping formulate effective responses to youth safety and well-being related inquiries from various stakeholders.Successful candidates will have the skills, expertise and experience to identify and analyze youth safety and well-being policy considerations, including legislative and regulatory developments, and develop and execute effective responses to address them. Successful candidates should have a strong background and interest in youth online safety and well-being, the proven ability to evaluate the youth safety and well-being implications of our policies, products and features, a proficiency in presenting publicly to a variety of audiences, including policymakers, and the proven ability to build needed relationships with key advocacy groups, policymakers, academics, and researchers.Candidates should be dedicated, detail oriented, creative, resourceful, analytical, and knowledgeable about tech policy and online safety, have a strong work ethic and superior presenting skills, and have experience in working at the intersection of policy and product.

Act as a subject matter expert resource and partner for the Global Safety Policy team, the broader Public Policy team and key cross-functional teams

Support the development of youth specific content policies and product policies, as well as product design principles, standards and guidelines

Provide expert youth safety and well-being counsel to youth product teams, and help drive related alignment across youth product teams

Drive youth safety and well-being external stakeholder engagement strategy to support various internal teams, including Safety Policy, Content Policy and product teams

Be a central repository and analyst for youth-related legislation, regulation and policy and share learnings and expertise with internal stakeholders as needed

Provide expert analysis and guidance to teams involved in the policy mission to aid in strategic planning, analyzing and responding to youth related legislative and regulatory initiatives, developing safety related policy programs

Help develop and support policymaker engagement strategy in collaboration with Public Policy team with regard to youth safety and well-being issues

In collaboration with broader Safety Policy Team develop, maintain, and deepen relationships with NGOs, academic experts and other stakeholders in support of all the work above

Work cross functionally to elevate external knowledge and understanding of all the work being done to ensure the safety and well-being of youth on our services and online broadly

At select youth online safety events and meetings with policymakers as needed to communicate Facebook's efforts regarding youth and family online safety, as well as develop and reinforce Facebook's reputation as a leader in youth online safety and well-being

Willingness to travel and to handle calls during different time zones

8+ years work experience in advocacy or policy related to youth safety at the intersection of technology, social media, and safety

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in policy, law, marketing, business, communications or a relevant subject or discipline

Experience in technology policy issues, as well as an understanding of applicable regulatory and self-regulatory regimes needed

Knowledge of Facebook products, features, platform, and policies, as well as knowledge of online safety landscape is essential

Proven communication, analytic, organizational, and proactive work ethic, and proven interpersonal skills needed

Demonstrated experience to work in a fast-paced environment, think and move quickly, produce results under deadlines, juggle many different projects at once, find pragmatic and creative solutions to business issues, provide concise and business-focused advice, and make sound judgments

Advanced degree in policy, law, marketing, business, communications or a relevant subject or discipline

Strong preference for experience in the Internet technology industry
