Job Description
Help us register voters in Pennsylvania!
The New Pennsylvania Project is seeking Community Engagement Associates to participate in our voter registration efforts in key areas of Pennsylvania this fall.
We are seeking applicants to work with our team in the following areas in Pennsylvania:
- Western PA: Pittsburgh/Allegheny County
- Central PA: Harrisburg/Dauphin, Cumberland, and Lancaster Counties
- Northeast PA: Bethlehem/Northampton and Monroe Counties
- Southeast PA: Delaware, Chester, Montgomery, and Bucks Counties
We are hiring immediately for these positions, which are full-time, in-person positions. We would ideally like successful team members to stay with NPP through 2023 and beyond.
The New Pennsylvania Project (NPP) was founded in May 2021 to expand Pennsylvania’s electorate so it reflects the Commonwealth’s demographically changing population. In the next four years, NPP will engage and empower young residents and those living in underrepresented and often neglected communities of color and immigrant communities. We will register them to vote, provide education about the issues that matter in their neighborhoods, and mobilize people to vote in every election - twice a year.
Our Community Engagement Associates are the face and voice of our organization in our targeted regions. CEAs will be engaging prospective voters through thoughtful and respectful conversations, with the goal of finding non-registered individuals and registering them to vote. CEAs will engage in canvassing door-to-door as well as tabling at community events and engaging with voters in a variety of other settings. CEAs will be managed by the Regional Organizing Directors for each of our organizing regions.
Because our target communities and colleagues come from a wide range of backgrounds, this position needs to be able to thoughtfully navigate issues related to diversity, race, equity and inclusion, and bring a deep commitment to advancing these values.
Successful CEAs will be able to use conversation and persuasion to get individuals to register to vote, and to create voters out of individuals who may be skeptical of civic engagement. CEAs must be able to work in an independent setting, and do their work outdoors in a variety of settings. Reliable transportation, ability to work evenings and weekends, and COVID vaccination are requirements for all our staff members. Above all, a commitment to voter education and passion for voter engagement will be key for our staff.
Salaries will range between $35,000 and $40,000 per year, paid weekly, commensurate with experience. Benefits include: 100% employer-paid healthcare and generous PTO/vacation time.
