Job Description
JOB OBJECTIVE: Manage and coordinate regional stakeholder and community relations efforts as primary point of contact for TXOGA’s South Texas Energy and Economic Roundtable (STEER), a regional effort of the Texas Oil and Gas Association (TXOGA). Work in close coordination with TXOGA personnel, member companies and industry organizations in the Eagle Ford and South Texas regional communities. Responsible for the development and implementation of a stakeholder/community relations outreach plan for the STEER region with the purpose of furthering the goals and objectives of the Association. Provide information and counsel to the Texas Oil and Gas Association.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the Director and continue the regional efforts of TXOGA’s South Texas Economic and Energy Roundtable as a uniquely branded TXOGA region.
- Coordinate closely with the STEER’s member governing council and TXOGA management to create a strategy and assessment mechanism for developing and maintaining relationships in the Eagle Ford and South Texas communities.
- Work closely with association membership and potential member companies, personnel, and management to assist and inform the regional roundtable’s efforts as well as the overall TXOGA efforts in the region.
- Create, coordinate and maintain a regional committee structure in coordination with government and regulatory affairs teams and member companies.
- Establish and enhance relationships with local and state officials to assist and inform the Association’s efforts.
- Create, oversee, and implement a stakeholder relations outreach plan for the region including emerging areas of operation.
- Create, oversee and implement local engagement events on behalf of the association.
- Oversee and implement the annual STEER Eagle Ford Excellence Awards.
- Monitor local issues and concerns to identify and address the needs of the communities and operators.
- Act as a community ambassador for TXOGA’s STEER representing the Association at meetings and events throughout the region.
- Participate in state or national industry organizations as appropriate.
- Identify and develop TXOGA PAC opportunities in the targeted area.
- Work to build local coalition support as issues arise.
- Assist TXOGA Communications in building contacts and support for the TXOGA database and Action Center.
- Develop relationships and interact with local representatives of allied trades.
- Promote TXOGA benefit plans such as worker’s compensation and other insurance products.
- Other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Applicant should reside in the Eagle Ford and/or South Texas Region including but not limited to the following counties: Atascosa, Bee, De Witt, Dimmitt, Frio, Gonzales, Karnes, La Salle, Lavaca, Live Oak, Maverick, McMullen, Webb, Wilson, Zavala
Regional Offices
- Employees not located at the Association headquarters are expected to be able to live and work in the region that is their primary area of responsibility
- Generally, it is anticipated regional personnel will work from a home office unless donated space is available or warranted.
- TXOGA will reimburse or purchase all required and reasonable office supplies and equipment and appropriate reoccurring expenses.
- Regional personnel will work closely with TXOGA to ensure appropriate office needs are met.
Travel Requirements
- Regular travel is required to counties and areas assigned to this region.
- Additional travel to other parts of the state, to Austin, and to out-of-state events will be required from time to time.
- Required and reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed according to TXOGA’s reimbursement policy.
- All employees are expected to have and use their own reliable transportation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from a four–year college or university with major coursework in a field relevant to the industry or position.
- Five years of relevant employment in community relations, advocacy, communications or the oil and gas industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of the oil and gas industry and its regulatory agencies
- Community and/or media relations experience
- Familiar with utilizing databases, advocacy tools and/or similar software such as NationBuilder, Quorum, YourMembership
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Basic understanding of local, state and federal legislative and regulatory processes
- Ability to work quickly under deadlines
- Ability to motivate internal and external individuals and work well in a team-centric environment
- Ability to visualize long-term goals and develop short-term objectives to meet those goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent networking skills
- Self-motivated and ability to work proactively to meet goals and objectives
