Rep. Pete Aguilar, Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, is seeking a highly motivated candidate to fill a temporary Press/Digital Manager position through the end of the 118th Congress. This position is split between the House Democratic Caucus and the Office of California’s 33rd Congressional District. The Press/Digital Manager will work closely with the communications team to assist with both district and caucus press and social media, with the legislative team on rolling out legislative announcements and reviewing constituent mail, and with the district office team to generate media coverage at local events.

The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter, someone who enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team and demonstrates close attention to detail while balancing multiple projects. This position requires non-traditional work hours and reports to the Communications Director. 

The salary range for the position is $60,000 - $75,000 per year, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with press releases, media advisories, talking points, social media content and e-newsletters for the Congressman’s personal office.
  • Drafting digital content, including graphics, videos, and copy for Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Twitter, YouTube and for the House Democratic Caucus monthly toolkits.
  • Managing livestream, photography and videography for the weekly Caucus press conference.
  • Updating the Caucus and personal office website.
  • Maintaining and updating local media contacts.
  • Compiling daily press clips.

Relevant Skills

  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Livestreaming to multiple platforms (familiarity with livestreaming software a plus).
  • Graphic design.
  • Social media management.
  • Photography and video editing (Adobe Creative Suite experience preferred).
