Microsoft is looking for a results-driven Senior Communications Manager to join the Microsoft Innovation Communications team, focused on AI. In this highly collaborative role that focuses on storytelling, you will be responsible for driving thought leadership around Microsoft’s AI approach, including developing story ideas, landing coverage and extending this work through owned and social channels.

We are looking for a collaborative, diplomatic, and organized communicator. If you enjoy learning about new technologies, especially AI, and are familiar with how to work across a broad set of media, particularly business and tech, to tell proactive stories, this could be the right role for you. We are looking for someone who is proactive, comfortable working in an ever-changing landscape, and can manage multiple projects and stakeholders at a time, as well as respond to reactive media inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with communications, legal, policy, or product colleagues to land business and tech-focused stories related to priority AI topics.
  • Work closely with external PR agencies and maintain relationships with key influencers.
  • Work closely with content and owned channel team members on thought leadership campaigns.
  • Manage reactive media inquiries.
  • Collaborate with partners and customers on storytelling moments.
  • Have a pulse on the AI landscape and how Microsoft is differentiating itself. Identify gaps and opportunities to strengthen our efforts.
  • Develop stories and/or content for events and product announcements.
  • Embody our culture and values.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 4+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in media relations, journalism, corporate storytelling and/or a related field.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 6+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • A keen interest and curiosity about tech trends, especially AI.
  • A growth mindset and the desire to experiment with new and emerging forms of storytelling to reach a broad set of audiences.
  • A talent for collaborating effectively and diplomatically with several stakeholders across research, engineering, communications, marketing and social media teams, as well as to work effectively with external partners and customers outside the company.
  • The capacity to work quickly and decisively to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage complex projects in a fast-changing environment.


Communications IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $103,800 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,700 - $219,200 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
