CCIA, a leading Washington, DC-based technology trade association of internet, communications, and technology companies, seeks an experienced policy expert to oversee and expand the Association’s advocacy for procompetitive spectrum and satellite policy in the Americas. The Spectrum and Satellite Policy Director is a DC-based role responsible for advancing the Association’s mission and the interests of its members in this space.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Interfacing with CCIA’s members that are developing satellite-based and/or high-band spectrum-based communications systems and networks;
  • Supervising a full-time staffperson dedicated to these issues;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with lawmakers having jurisdiction over or interest in the various aspects of spectrum and satellite policy;
  • Briefing CCIA’s DC leadership on key policy decision points; and
  • Identifying, retaining, and managing local consultants, retainers, and other experts as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: Seven years relevant work experience in high-band spectrum and satellite policy. Backgrounds in technology-oriented government, policy, think tanks/non-profits, trade associations, and/or international institutions or other relevant business experiences are sought. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, including persuasive and analytical writing, and public speaking.

The ideal candidate will also possess:

  • Broad substantive knowledge of technology policy, including the state and local landscape.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and legislative processes and political dynamics.
  • Ability to identify and track relevant legislation in the U.S. and Latin American nations. 
  • Self-starting personality, strong organizational and project management skills, and prior experience managing teams.
  • Willingness to interact with and work with the media.
  • Graduate degree in public policy, government, economics, law, or similar discipline.
  • Familiarity with the products and services of CCIA member companies.
  • Willingness to travel to represent CCIA for in-person testimony, at meetings with state lawmakers and other stakeholders, and at conferences. 

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
