Position Description:
The Director of Vaccine Communications for the company's pneumococcal, pediatric and pipeline franchises will collaborate closely with the communications, research, commercial teams and investor relations on the development and activation of integrated, comprehensive communications strategies and programs in support of the company and global vaccines business.
Responsibilities:
- Lead communications strategies aligned with the overarching corporate and pneumococcal franchise priorities including new product launches and current product portfolios.
- Create and execute comprehensive external communications programs in the US and for global markets with a strong understanding of the science and the competitive landscape.
- Strengthen awareness and activation among key audiences of the importance of vaccines through targeted content and channel strategies across traditional, social and digital platforms, media outreach programs, executive speaking opportunities, pipeline communications, and third-party engagement opportunities
- Create campaigns and ongoing news flow to continually reinforce the value of vaccines across the franchises among the public, Scientific Leaders, healthcare professionals, payers and advocacy partners
- Stay up to date on trends in consumer engagement, digital activation and media and pop culture around the world to engage in new approaches to reaching the appropriate audiences per portfolio – a forward thinking/outside the box mindset
- Monitor the environment through social listening tools and media monitoring to identify opportunities to help position the portfolios while also having an ear to the ground on emerging issues
- Identify relevant regional conferences and congresses; coordinate speaking opportunities, develop materials, coordinate meetings with key influencers, conduct pre- and post-conference outreach, and execute wrap-around communication to reach relevant stakeholders
- Create external partnerships with key external organizations and experts in support of business and reputational goals
- Serve as the primary communications counselor to the brand marketing and other cross-divisional teams; to advise on key communications and business issues, engaging senior global communications staff as necessary
- Act as counselor, leader and key resource for division issues and external events
- Manage directly or indirectly with PR agencies and manage related program budgets to implement comprehensive communications plans
- Manage team members and share best practices internally.
Position Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required.
Required/Preferred Experience and Skills:
- 10+ years of experience in public relations/communications and working with business leaders.
- Seasoned leader with ability to work across multiple Therapeutic areas is preferred.
- Previous PR (Public Relations) Agency experience working with healthcare/pharmaceutical clients is a plus.
Location/Travel Requirements :
This role is primarily based out of Upper Gwynedd (PA) with up to 25% travel to our Kenilworth (NJ) site . Must have the ability to be On-Site in PA for a a minimum of 2 days with occasional travel to NJ sites for key meetings.
