Policy and Communications Action Officer, Mid

Key Role:

Provide a defense client with a suite of action officer-level support based on the client's specific needs, including congressional affairs, public affairs, administrative support, and policy analysis. Provide analytical support for the development and implementation of DoD-wide strategy and policy. Analyze risk-based strategies for legislative processes and planning. Provide analysis to identify, define, and close requirements using the legislative process. Develop strategic communications programming and support public affairs activities for the client.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a professional work environment, including on Capitol Hill or DoD

  • Experience with Congressional or legislative affairs and the Congressional Authorization and Appropriations process, the DoD legislative process, including program objective memorandum (POM) preparation, Budget Estimate Submissions (BES), President’s Budget (PB) Exhibit preparation, and working around senior Congressional staff and DoD and Navy officials

  • Experience with Defense Staff, Navy Staff, Joint Staff, or Combatant Command (COCOM) staff

  • Experience with requirements analysis and identification in DoD, Navy, or Marine Corps programs

  • Experience with regular direct client interactions, including supporting project delivery, delivering presentations, leading client meetings, and working independently, creatively, and analytically in a problem-solving environment

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools

  • Ability to track and comprehend acquisition and procurement goals as they move through the legislative cycle and plan, organize, and execute tasks with minimal direction

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with working on Capitol Hill as a Congressional Staffer or DoD or Navy Office of Legislative Affairs

  • Experience with the Program Budget Information System (PBIS)

  • Experience with reviewing and drafting Reclamas to Congressional Defense Committees as part of the annual Authorization and Appropriations process

  • Experience with requirements analysis and identification in Navy and Marine Corps programs

  • Top Secret clearance

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
