Who We Seek

Hispanic Federation is seeking a GOTV and Community Outreach Worker to support community outreach via text messaging and phone banking events. The Outreach Worker will work closely with the Hispanic Federation’s Chicago Team to create meaningful impact in community outreach, addressing disparities in access to services for specific, underserved communities.

The position is supervised by the Midwest Programs Director and will work out of HF’s office in Chicago, IL. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with cold calling community members, be interested in providing information for the upcoming elections, and have an interest in working with nonprofits and supporting communities of color.

Hispanic Federation is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit and operates on a nonpartisan basis. HF is not affiliated with any political parties and works to ensure everyone is able to properly and lawfully perform their civic duties.

Position Location: Chicago, IL

Reports to: Midwest Programs Director

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute community outreach through HF’s communication platforms and apps, Telzio & Hustle.
  • Complete communications to individuals following an outlined list of pre-prepared outreach lists.
  • Provide prompt and accurate information around voting logistics in Illinois, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
  • Communicate with HF’s civic engagement team to discuss all progress and problems in carrying out duties.
  • Carry-out any other duties needed to support Hispanic Federation’s civic engagement work.
  • Participate in all required trainings for Community Engagement.
  • Adhere to all nonpartisan guidelines, abiding by IRC 501(c)(3) regulations; and federal, state, and local laws and all local election regulations while executing operations under this Agreement.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with community outreach and engaging the Midwest’s diverse population around civic participation and engagement.
  • Able to work from HF’s Chicago Office in 328 S. Jefferson Street as scheduled.
  • Comfortable on the phone and using technology to execute community outreach.
  • Strong understanding of Latino and social justice issues.
  • High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.

Compensation:

Hourly rate of pay is $20.00. Canvassers can receive up to 28 hours of work per week.
