The American College of Radiology (ACR) seeks an organized, detail-oriented, and motivated Regulatory Policy Specialist to join its Washington, DC team. Reporting to the Director, Government Affairs, this position will develop and maintain topical expertise and relationships with relevant federal regulatory agencies, policymakers, and other stakeholders in furtherance of radiology’s policy priorities. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills, expertise in federal rulemaking and policymaking processes, the ability to work well remotely and hybrid/in-person as needed in and around Washington, DC (including attending agency meetings), as well as the ability to effectively communicate complex regulatory policy issues and positions to enhance ACR’s visibility and outreach.

Candidates must possess in-depth knowledge of federal rulemaking and policymaking processes and have the ability to effectively advocate ACR/radiology perspectives and positions. Examples of portfolio topics include digital health/artificial intelligence, medical devices/drugs, radiation safety/radiological materials licensing, medical supply chain security, radiologist workforce, public/population health, and other priorities as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and maintaining strategic relationships with radiology-relevant federal agencies and other stakeholders.
  • Attending/monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on radiology-relevant federal government meetings, hearings, and other events.
  • Tracking and analyzing radiology-relevant federal agency activities, including routinely reviewing Federal Register notices, announcements, rulemakings, comment opportunities, and meetings/events.
  • Coordinating, drafting, and communicating ACR comment submissions, testimony, letters, federal advisory committee nominations, meeting requests, articles, briefs/memorandums, and other advocacy materials.
  • Co-staffing relevant ACR committees, task forces, and commissions, including but not limited to the Government Relations Commission-Federal Regulatory Committee and Medical Physics-Government Relations Committee.
  • Informing ACR members of federal agency policy and regulatory changes and serving as an informational resource to members and staff.
  • Performing other activities as assigned.

Qualifications and Minimum Experience:

  • 3 years minimum of related experience in government or government affairs/relations. Relevant federal agency, Congressional office, or medical professional association experience preferred.
  • Excellent formal written communication skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills required.
  • Ability to work well both within a small team and independently.

This position will work a Hybrid schedule and we seek a candidate who lives in the DC Metro area. Although working primarily remote there will be mandatory meetings, events, and networking opportunities in the ACR DC office and surrounding DC Metro area. When working remotely, workers must be self-motivated, possess excellent time management, and be highly organized. Reliable internet connection is a must!

ACR’s goal is to pay competitively and equitably. It is typical for individuals to be hired in the entry to middle of the range for their role, and compensation decisions depend on each case’s circumstances. A reasonable estimate of the annual compensation range for this position is $102,000 – $136,000.
